Why can Cassandra knock down the gate of the Stronghold with her shield?

Smashing a gate down with a shield doesn't bother me very much.
To answer your question, maybe it's cooler than *not* being able to?

Well I'm not a DA Warrior Class either, so here are some other abilities that Cassandra (potentially) has that I dont:
Mighty Blow- I cant vert launch off two feet with a greatsword behind my head
Holy Smite - I can't drink lyrium so I cant work a spell.
Silence - I can't cast a ward on someone so they can't use special abilities, potentially stunning them.
Ground Pommel - I can't strike my sword into the ground and shatter the earth so forcefully my enemies fall away
I can keep going.
Feel free, tell me when you find the ability to smash through anything so when the game gets released I can destroy everything and rule the world with it

Why would you give a rogue 104 strength?FreshIstay wrote...

Your Warden must not have been strong enough. You can also hit a Golem with Cone of Cold and Shatter it with a warriors Overpower skill.
Considering my Warden was a Warrior he was plenty strong enough. Yes you can knock them over with spells like stonefist and shatter them etc. But I am yet to see a Golem fall over when hit with a shield with no other effetcs applied to it.
Well. That sounded like a challenge.
I looked at your player profile.
Your level 35 Owyn warrior class :
56 strength
My Alexander level 35 ROUGE class:
104 strength.
Not even my strongest warden

And you still cant knock Golems onto the ground with shield bash.
I dont care about your Wardens stats. Or having some stupid contest "lolz mine iz better dan urs!" Its not exactly hard to just pump everything into one stat...

But seriously, the issue does not seem to JUST come from the basis of Cassandra smashing down the gate.
The issue seems to come from the conclusion that goes something like this;
A gate is tougher than a person > Cassandra destroys the gate easily > Cassandra should be able to smash a person apart easily.

See that word I bolded. Ya, the Dragon Age Franchise has never been a ultra realistic combat simulator. Either by the real world or Thedas rules.
Its time for a large amount of posters to accept it has never been and most likely never be the games they imagined them to be. Even if the gate bashing is removed or reworked there will be many other instances of gameplay realism segragation and thats the direction BIoWare has been on with the gameplay.
Acting as if this is some new development or arbitrarily choosing this one think out of a long list of gameplay thats not realistic is being disingenuous at best.

Because strength is still vital to attack power, unless you get the ability that switches cunning with strength modifier.
Also because my Rouge wears Massive Armour, and I still have lots of cunning and dexterity to go around, as well as four fully learned specializations, talents, and full knowledge of the basic duel weapon talents.

Rogue wearing massive armour? lmao thats just dumb

To be fair he thinks you can punch your way through a gatehouse
What he is seeing going on in his head whilst playing is probably vastly different from what is actually happening on the screen

When in doubt call It a game and say everything is made up so anything is possible. People only use that arguement when they have ran out of valid points.
Even if it is a game it still has to adhere to it's own lore in order to be believable and mantain any kind of integrity.
Otherwise what is to stop the Inquisitor fron killing a Dragon by flying in the air and shooting it down with laser beams coming out of his ass whilst using Commander Shepard as a valiant steed

That one is easily solvable. Rather than knocking enemies down, War Cry should paralyze them with fear which would have the same effects as a "Fear" spell.addiction21 wrote...

It serves the same purpose and it's more realistic.

No.
What I think is...
You complaining about ramming your way through a gate house while having to the ability to slay a firebreathing lizard 50 times your size is Crazy
Im also not under the delusion that real world physics apply in my video game.
THAT IS WHAT I THINK.

My Warden is almost double yours in every important category, and You telling me what Its capabilities are...that's stupid.
I just equipped my Warden with a modded item that gave him 660 Strenght and, this time, Shield Bash did make a golem lie flat on its back.

You can knock over Golems with Overpower with 1 strength dumbo.(modded to 1) The chances are just less. That may take a while to test too..
My stats are as they are because I dont like playing characters who can go about OHKOing Archdemons for kicks.
My warden is a DWW by the way. He doesn't use shields.
@JB Fair enough. Thats a threshold that would not be possible in the game without modding though.

A gatehouse is stronger than a human arm, end of story.
There is no reason why she should be able to bash it down.
If it is explained that it was a magical attack, or that for some reason she has massive superhuman strength then I would have no issues with it.
But that then raises the question, If she can bash down a gatehouse why doesn't she just hit people with her shield and send them into orbit? Or does she have a very specific magical power that for some reason will only work on gatehouses.
Seeing her bash down a gatehouse is inconsistant with everthing else we have ever seen her do within the game.
It would be like your Warrior starting to randomly cast spells at the enemy even though they are not a Mage.

Considering that humans can survice been chewed on by a dragon and survive fireballs and all other sort of things, I think we can conclude that humans in Thedas are sturdier than a gate.
They should build a fortress out of people.
Thinking about it, a Tevinter Magister has probably already had this idea

I guess the fact that I have a level 21 warrior with the same amount of Strength as your level 35 doesn't nothing for you. ?
