I recently bought BG I & II on GoG and I also downloaded the mod that allows you to play with the BGII engine. My question is, should I play BG I in its original engine or with the BG II engine? What are the main differences in playing BG I both ways?
BG I original or enhanced with Tutu?

Playing a "unified" game means that right from the start there is more NPC dialogue and a much greater choice of "career" options and weapon specialties for your protagonist. BG II is a more enriched game than BG I was, and Tutu - or BGT - just retrofits some of the enhancements back into BG I.

Some differences:
1) BG 2 mod characters run faster than vanilla BG 1
2) Vanillla BG 1 mobs properly spawn - that is,3 xvarts if you have 3 party members might appear, but in BG 2 engine six xvarts always appear
3) Ambushes different - generally I think the BG 2 ambushes are more dangerous, but BG 1 can have more enemies in a ambush (like 10 archers/4 worgs)
4) BG 2 engines allows use of kits for Player Character, no kits in vanilla
5) You have to single click when buying items, but in BG 2 engine you can double-click to buy many of a single item
6) Personally, I think the final fight is harder with BG 2 engine than vanilla
7) Vanilla BG 1 allows any number of monsters assisting you, but BG 2 engine only allows 5 in most cases.
8) Pro Magic scroll allows potion buffs in BG 2 engine, but not in BG 1 vanilla.
There are other differences, but hopefully this is enough for you to decide what you want.

Thanks. I was tempted to play vanilla but I think I'll go with tutu given the easier-on-the-eyes menu screens.
