Agreed. This is a videogame site, if sharing opinions and talking about something with like minded people is not something this site is used for then what is its point at all?
I get it, this is BSN and should focus on bioware games, but dont make it sound like talking about bioware titles but nothing else is productive for anyone other then bioware.
And if you are suggesting that people are somehow more polite in the specific game forums then they are in the OT one then we clearly have not been using the same forums. I usually used the ME3 forums before OT and there was way more insults and nastiness going around then I see here.

If this is about groups, just remove the wrong ones. Any with porn or sexual roleplay or anything that violates TOS and site rules, remove it. I'll admit, there's some very bad groups out there. Porn groups, groups which serve no purpose but to badmouth others, some groups even bordering or containing illegal content (I've seen a "Lolita" group once and a "Teen Titans RP" once where, according to users, RP was of a sexual nature, and several groups dedicated to the discussion and assistance of game piracy). People constantly harass, degrade, and insult other users here; ****, I've done it, I'm just as bad. Trolling itself is bad, mmkay?
However, it's not a good excuse to retcon the entire community features set, nor can Bioware act like they're solving the problems by doing their update.
Honestly, all of BSN's problems would be solved if:
1. More Bioware moderators actually did their job.
2. Bioware got rid of the extremely lousy "botmods" to do their dirty work.
3. Bioware actually enforced its rules.
4. Bioware actually listened to its fanbase instead of passing them all off as psychos because of what some deviants post in Mass Effect character threads.
Bioware's getting mad at the community for doing or saying things against the rules, but it's inevitable that it'd happen. That's like the government getting mad at people for committing crime in a city with no police; if Bioware's too damn lazy to moderate their own forum effectively, instead resorting to moderators who are rarely on and "botmods" who very rarely work, they shouldn't be surprised when a ****ton of people break the rules, spam, harass people, cause trouble.
Instead of nuking the entire city (BSN), why not, oh, I dunno, send in the police (COMPETENT moderators)?

The best thing about the BSN right now is the community-made resources that players can share with each other, whether they are blog articles, polls, albums, mods, or whatever. These things are tangible testaments of how much players love these games, they are ways for players to share information and creations with each other. They FOSTER more community. The BSN is the obvious place to have a repository for them.
Yet for some reason, BW's answer is to further fracture up the site, chase away the modding community, and remove this content.
I agree that the site needs an overhaul. It has for awhile. Everyone knows that the Group interface sucks beyond belief to the point of unuseability. But, keep the content in place.

lol, feedback... supposedly this change is based on "feedback". i wonder how many were asking "get rid of albums!!!"
polls can be bad, but for the most part album and blogs are a nice way to interact with people..... it'll be more quiet here
and projects ? that means modders... yah, of course they want to get rid of them...
