Guys all this disbelief is kinda misplaced. This isn't Bioware any more. It hasn't been in a LONG time. This is EA games now, and this is just the kind of stuff they do. It's probably in a procedural manual someplace.

Even though EA and BioWare are working together, I'm pretty sure this is just strictly BioWare people running this website. There might be EA techs, no idea, but it doesn't say anything about EA on here, and EA wants their label slapped on everything.

Hahaha...who said that? Chris? Jessica?

It's in the OP, so I'd assume it's Ms Merizan.

EA and Bio are NOT "working together". EA OWNS Bio now, lock, stock and barrel. All the people that made Bio what it was have left.

Bio is dead, Dovaaa. This is EA now. Deal with it. It'll hurt a lot less down the road.

Perhaps it was their corporate overlords.

Oh, yeah I didn't care to remember the contents of her post.

Perhaps it was their corporate overlords.

Pretty likely. Sounds a bit too...manufactured.

I have my doubts that Jessica was allowed to write the entire OP herself.

No doubt somebody somewhere worried it wasn't being happy-PR-talk enough and told an intern to edit it.

It reminds me of my time as a writing tutor.

"Oh yeah, your paper is good...except for the fact that it sucks."

"Let me go over how to completely revamp your paper."

Yeah man just tell us you need to cut costs point blank. This does not make any sense.

->You are trying to create a more game conducive environment but you remove the projects feature(One of the most important feature)
->You plan to bring about a feature of Cosplay but you are removing the album system which is basically a system that can be integrated.

Given this, it would've been best had they just said, "Yo! We need to save some money, and so we will be removing features," rather than, "Hey, we're removing all these features that make the Bioware Social Network a better place. It's totally not a cost-cutting move. We're improving the site by stripping the features that users use to socialize w/ each other."

The point of the frustration is that some of us have been coming here for years and made many friends. It's our way of keeping said friends in our lives without having to necessarily incorporate them into our "real life" worlds. For example I only add a select few close friends to my Facebook list.

Mature, sensible game discussion? About what? It's old news. There is nothing more to discuss. How many times can you go over the lore? Or the ME3 ending? It's boring. Many of us use the other features so that we can remain on the network with our friends and get updates as and when we require them. If all we can do is post in threads about the game then I'm out.

If it's cost-cutting then fine, I haven't a problem, but I think the vast majority of members would rather they take the site down entirely than leave us with a shell. As it is we are strictly regulated and rarely allowed to deviate from game discussion. Even joking is clamped down on.

I agree silliness has to be moderated, but this is too far in my opinion.

Not sure how removing albums makes anything better.

I don't know why anyone would request this.

That's just it.
This is a damn PR disaster.
It's all over the place really and for a post that should inspire confidence Jessica comes off as, I don't mean to offend but i apologize if I do, a bit of a ditz. It doesn't really inspire confidence that's for sure.

As Tips said if they had just come out and admitted that ''Hey were removing this stuff to cut costs, save space and try to drive off the football spammers'', a clear reason, logical and many would have just accepted it point blank as a necessary evil. There'd been whining because there always is but now the message is more like ''Hey guyyyys were taking out these things for your own good'' doesn't really inspire confidence.

This whole thing seems like a big mess.

What feedback did you guys get? Was there a survey that I apparently missed? Or did you ask Todd down in accounting, who eats lead paint chips for lunch, what he thought about blogs, albums, projects, and polls? *snip*

Now that made me laugh out loud! Thanks! Image IPB

I don't know how Bioware can come up with such a poor excuse. Have they been in the forum? I'm guessing no because the threads are full of dumb conversation.

Like FemShep's hair colour. Or when people were fighting over the video cut scene of the battle in Dragon Age and how the tactics were all wrong. Or how women weren't possibly strong enough to fight with a sword and wear armour. Or what female Qunari's would look like. Or...

Christ I could go on but it's just embarassing.

BSN was much more robust than we could have ever reasonably asked for to begin with. One could visit the site, interact with people from all over the world, and find numerous ways to entertain oneself. It was a social network.

It seems now, though, that BW has decided to focus on the sites primary function. It's a videogame companies fan website. Sure all the bells and whistles we've come to know and love have been marvelous and I will sincerely mourn their demise. The thing is, we were never promised those functions. They were very pleasant suprises and in the long run, appear to have overburdened, or perhaps more accurately, distracted the company so much that running a social networkon the side has taken the focus off of making games.

If that's the case, retooling the site into a more focused, if less expansive, engaging, and multifaceted version becomes a necessary, although surely painful decision that has to be made. I hate the choice, but I understand it.

PR disaster they should have just said point blank we are cutting costs. No reason for alogical excuses that don't even hold any weight.

Ever since Jessica started working on BSN, it started going down the drain. So this is not surprising.

First off and lastly, this site is not special. It provides what someone would reasonably expect a forum to provide. Nothing more.

"Overall positive change"?

So... nuking it from orbit?

This passion for people, does it involve poking them to see how they'll react? Because... nice job. Be sure to write a dissertation upon it, cataloging the natives and so on.

I don't endorse this thread drifting towards personal insult of JM and speculations of which individual is to blame.

At the end of the day, running this forum costs money and doesn't really bring much measurable revenue that I can see. The biggest effect it could have - as far as my limited experience goes - is customer loyalty.

So while I can relate to the public outcry - all people everywhere do that when they got something taken away from them - I like to remind myself, that the whole bloody BSN is pretty much a free giveaway to us by a company who has to earn money at the end of the day.

I'll enjoy the crap out of BSN as long as it lasts and I'll sure as hell be sad when it is gone. But I can't really blame JM for her company wanting to earn money.

What annoys me tbh is the fact that nobody on Bioware/EAs side is willing or able to just come out and say it like it is. "BSN as it is seems to be too expensive, so we are trying to cut away things and optimize stuff in order to save other parts." Is that so difficult to say? Hell if the alternative is no BSN, I'd rather have a diminished BSN.

What I don't like is to be treated like a mindless herd animal, who isn't able to look past the illusion of a sugar piece, while the stick is smacking my butt, hard. Sorry, but that was a PR fail if I've ever seen one.
