So, after reading this topic, I just want to throw my 2 cents in

.
This site seems to need a bit more in terms of updating (speaking objectively on this), as there are MANY forums on this site (way more than I have seen from any gaming company site), and some ultimately appear to be unneeded, at least on on the main section of the forum.
It could even be pushed a bit further back with all site related news forums moved to the top of the forum listings instead of being scattered throughout, and would make the listing look much cleaner.
For example:
The main listings would show categories:
-Site News
-Community
-Dragon Age
-Mass Effect
-Neverwinter Nights
-Baldur's Gate
-Other Games
From there it could then show what would be within each category:
-Community
--Fan Submissions
--Off Topic
--Etc.
-Mass Effect
--Mass Effect (1)
--Mass Effect 2
--Mass Effect 3
and then further from that
(except in the instance of "Community' which would just lead to the forum itself after the sub listing) would be how it currently set up:
--Mass Effect 3
---Mass Effect 3 News and Announcements
---Mass Effect 3 General Discussion (No ME3 Spoilers allowed)
---Mass Effect 3 Story and Campaign Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)
---Etc.
This would be a way to not overwhelm newer members, as the way it currently is set up seems a bit of a mess.
Then there could even a "Favorites" category, where a user could "pin" the forums they use the most at the very top for quick and easy access, and this category could function the same way as the main categories (so above 'Site News').
Current polling systems of gaming sites (generally speaking) are horrible, unless they would only be in the Off Topic section, so they would never be misconstrued as means of "gauging community reaction."
I am glad that Projects aren't switching to read only, as that would seem to be a terrible idea.
Albums -- I've never really used them on any website, and never saw a real use, and same goes for gaming-site hosted blogs.
I remember at one point that private messaging was disabled when sending PMs to people not on your site friends list, and that seemed very odd, so why not add in an option that a person can block all incoming messages from people not on their contacts list, and then have that set to "active" by default?
Then a person sending a messge to the user that has that setting on would then receive a message back saying that the other user was unable to receive the message due to them enabling this filter.
That would work better (in my optnion, but then again, all of this is my opinion).
Besides all of that, why not give teases to the community on what they should expect
(in very broad terms that show that it is in no way "set in stone") to let people know what's going on?
Anyways, interesting ideas with the site, and I hope they all work out.
