The changes we're making now are largely to help us focus in on what I think makes the BSN amazing at its core: intelligent, curious and passionate game content discussion.
Hahahaha. The Romance threads!

You're taking away but not telling us what yer gonna add.
And from my POV the reason yer taking out albums and blogs etc is to combat the people posting porn and those annoying football ads.
This announcement has left me scared.

They need to NOT let spammers join. Make sure someone actually OWNS a GAME before they can sign up and create albums and stuff.billy the squid wrote...
Lolol, let's cut the bull crap.I wouldn't phase out these aspects of the site if I didn't believe there are external spaces that do a better job of providing those services, so I encourage those of you who do to please back up your data and transfer over to another site/server.
The order has come from on high that the server space and cost is escalating and the budget won't cover the cost of servers and site upkeep. So most of the aspects like albums, projects and blogs are getting cut because of the spam issues surrounding it and the increasing cost as new accounts are made and space taken increases.
Or add in a security code to make sure the person joining isn't a spam bot

I would be annoyed if we lost some of the mods hosted in projects, though.

Well, I can't see any benefit for the users from these changes. So if there are any plans to add anything after all of this, it'd make it a lot easier for people to swallow if you'd just say it.

Seems like getting people to leave is what BW wants. Well played, BW.
When everyone leaves, there will be no complaints.

Sound logic... from a certain point of view.
It seems to be the same logic permeating most, if not all of BW, since the response to ME3.

Why not saying what new is coming, at least?
Nope, just cutting out some features with mere vague words of some unknown new features.

Is there any real distinction or difference at this point?

I do have to say, though, that I'm extra confused about projects being removed. Isn't Bioware always saying that they love and appreciate the modding community?
This seems to speak volumes to the reverse.
I also have to ask about this: "We encourage you to take this time to back up or save any important data or conversations you'd like to preserve."
..... does that apply to any pm's we've received that we'd like to keep too?
Thanks for your time. I imagine this is keeping you pretty busy.

I think back to the previous forums, before the BSN, there used to be a great forum for Jade Empire, and that forum was home to many JE mods, which are no longer available anywhere on the internet. I would ask that you please reconsider removing projects, as it is one of the most valuable functions of the current BSN, and would be removing a lot of people's hard work and dedication to their favorite Bioware games. It would also be a disservice to the BSN and Bioware community if these projects and mods are no longer available.

-Hair-trigger Permabans
-Tolerance Quizzes barring entry
-CD-Key Annihilator
-Wholesale destruction current population
-Painfully meaningless mod polls
-IQ of less than 100 barring entry
-Endless romance/fetish fulfillment threads
Face it bros, Drone-Only BSN is the way of the future! Become yes-men or get out!

Hi Jessica, I just want to ask that you please keep the projects sections up and open. As others have said, there are mods and projects that are hosted here, and only here. Their authors and creators have gone inactive long ago, but their DAO or their ME2 mods are still in use today.

You will still be able to download the files

Now that I think about it, all of the gif avatars and signatures on the site probably use up a huge amount of data too. This is the only forum that I've been on where people actually use gif avatars.
There is also The Simpsons Tapped out Forums where Mods post Gifs and also have a gif avatars.
But, yeah.
Also, I didn't quite understand this thread...
What will be available to do? I mean, read only? What is this? Does this mean that we can't post anything in Albums, Polls and other things? Just on Threads?
Please, explain it to me... I'm veeery confused.

Guess I'm spending the next few days downloading mods...
That the mods don't see much traffic doesn't mean we don't value the archive. Just like how I don't spend much time watching 1980s cartoons on YouTube, I'm still really glad they're there.

And the ability to upload Customs Avatars? It really pains me down there that I need to go to DAII to bypass the forum Configurations...
