Hey you crazy builders of crazy things!

If you have any projects here hosting custom content that you have not put elsewhere, please put it elsewhere! :D

As of November 19, 2013, projects, blogs, albums and polls will become read-only, and eventually will be phased off the BSN.

For more information, you can keep up to date here.

FP!

I guess that leaves dropbox or other file transfer sites.

Sucks that in the name of advancements they are getting rid of features people use.

Agreed.

What will you do for custom content challenge polls?

[warning full paranoia mode entered]

I wouldn't panic about the polls because the next logical step is to phase out legacy support altogether. It figures as first you make it so legacy gamers can't use the blogs if they don't use the modern games. Then you get rid of pms between non friended individuals saying that its not needed now the contact button is working. Like sure it is. I used it to complain about a spam post on the spelljammer group's comment section, 2 months ago and no-one has been in contact or removed said post. Now, well hey we don't want people making their own stuff when we need to flog them in game purchases do we? And we can't let people easily post images (just wait they'll find a way of stopping non-album pictures being posted) of the stuff they've made for the same reason. Also why should we let you have polls asking you to rate how cr$p the site is becoming nor to rant the same in a blog.

Finally after the pm debacle I doubt I'll believe anything they say in excuse from now on.

[terminating paranoia]

Oh tish and tosh.

Already working on it.  Anyone want to take a stab at voting on a test poll I just set up?

Moved 2 of my projects over to the new vault - Silly Little Utilities and TarotRedhands Cast-Offs

@AD, your poll seems to work.

Pretty ironic that only days ago I started to use some of the web-sites features....such is life.

I'd go all Vault 2.0 if possible, since it's community run.

What? Wha...?
Sunnova...!
Grrr...

Short-sighted infidelity. *sighs*
Your poll works great, AD (user-side, anyway).
As for other features, the new vault can pretty much host everything BSN does, though I have limited blogs to moderators and developers. I can turn them on for authors if there's an interest.

This... saddens me.

Edit: without the added features here, I may shift my forum presence predominantly to the Neverwinter Vault as well.

" I may shift my forum presence predominantly to the Neverwinter Vault as well."

It was going to happen sooner or later. I think it's a godsend that you (and others) gave us the option of keeping NWN alive with the New Vault. I salute you sir !

This is all very very unfortunate. I enjoy the community and the feel of this place and the recent changes seem to be aimed at undermining some of the best things that set it apart.

I am indeed thankful for the New Vault as a platform, but would have liked to see this place continue to prosper, as with migration to new places inevitably some will be left behind and lose touch, as the closure of such community nodes in the past has shown.

I don't suppose there is any ways of reversing such short-sighted trends here, since all the uproar about the banning of PMs between non-'friends' resulted in absolutely nothing.

Sadness, sadness...

One of the reasons that nothing was done about the pm's was because the fuss died down within a month. I'm guessing here but I suspect that they delayed this current announcement until now because in a month's time it will be Christmas and they figure we'll all be too busy with that to worry about such a small thing as bsn.

If y'all don't feel like being my BSN friend to send messages, you can always shoot me an email (yeah, I'm so old fashioned)....the addresses are easy to find (just check the link for the community site below).

Ah well, I was kind of too lazy to move neverblender and my other stuff to the new vault. Now they force the issue. It's a bit sad, but fortunately there are good alternatives :-)

<wheeling...>

We would be very happy to host your stuff, Asymmetric :-)
In fact, I'd really like to see what synergy might occur if you rub up against rjshae =)

Since Blender is directly supported by jMonkeyEngine, it is the modeler of choice for my assetmanager/toolset makover/game-engine replacement project...
