Any chance races will be re-introduced or redesigned for the next ME?

I think you possibly need to reconsider the wording of your post.

Should BioWare continue to introduce new species that we've yet to encounter in person[?] most definitely[!].... but [aside from Quarians posibily not needing enviro-suites anymore] the idea of BioWare retconing the appearences of the established races would be a horrible idea... what on earth are you thinking?

I don't think you really mean that though... I think what you probably meant to say is that we could do with a lot more variety within the existing species .e.g. ethnicity, gender, body-types, unique features, tatoos, voice-actors, etc. which is certainly true.

For example Turians and Asari all look pretty same-y to me with some notable exceptions while most notable Salarians all have different skin-pattens... we could do with a lot more of that. What ever happened to yellow Krogan, who are the lystheni Salarians?

Well it's likely that the next Mass Effect will have changes in the aliens in some manner or another. Let's just hope they don't use that as an excuse to go Total ReCanon like the did to the Qunari in DA2. It was like no horns on the Qunari in DAO and then poof... horns everywhere so let's semi recanon the DA universe to justify a pretty ugly re-skinning.

There was no Retcon. The Qunari were always supposed to have horns, the engine just wasn't capable for horns+helmet. So the problem lies with DAO not DA2.

As for ME4, I don't see them leaving out races from previous games, think of the fan-rage. Like others said the quarians are most likely for a redesign.

The Star Control Saga could serve the inspiration for tons of more alien races ;) (the direct inspiration for the asari race comes from this triolgy).

I also wonder what happened to all those reaper creatures after the Reapers just stopped doing what they were doing (whichever end you picked). For example, what would happen to a husk or a marauder when it doesn't listen to their voices and don't need to support the harvest any further?

SC races were awesome and I did take lot of inspiration on my race thread from there, like the observers which are like chenjesu.

the spelling in this thread is atrocious. the second post in particular is a total disgrace.

they were all partly synthetic, and they:

- are destroyed, since you see the Husks just imploding when the red energy passes through them.

- remain under Shepard's control, just like the Reapers themselves.

- I guess they become a new species in the Synthesis future.

In destroy, they're wiped out. But in other endings, like you said, they just run away... One thing I remember is how the Leviathans controlled reaper creatures (husks, cannibals, etc...) in the Leviathan DLC, in the second mission. The blue spheres seemed to work with both organics (as this race had done for centuries before the cycles began) and  the'repurposed' creatures the reapers spawn... What if they decided to employ the Reapers own forces against the survivors of the Reaper War? :o

Don't want to derail the thread, just wandering if those creatures would still exist in the ME universe in a hypothetical sequel (I'd compare them to the darkspawn in the DA), but serving as the pawns for a different enemy. :alien:

I loved completely annihilating Geth every single time on renegade ME3 run. I don't want them to return.

New races, yes, there is already forshafowing for that assuning the next game is set in the future.

Geth and Quarians, who knows.
They mightdecide to kill off both. Either Shepard killed them or something else.
If you saved the Quarians and killed of geth then the Quarians might still die from a failing immunesydtem resulting in their extinction.
If you saved the Geth and didn't pick dedtroy then a dornant Reaper virus might kill them off in some hortibly angushing way.
If you saved both then both dies a horible death.
Krogans are wiped out by the cure... We get new replacement races to fill the holes created.
Raloi = new Quarians... the cowards who hid away from the Reapers.
Virtual aliens some how survived ehatever Shepard did and replaces the Geth.
Yagh replaces the Krogsns.

Hopefully I'm wrong.
Humand will be there because most people especialy casuals want to play as humans.
Asari because they are Iconic (Liara) and sex appeal of blue alien females.
Turians, yes, kind of iconic (Garrus) and they couldnt die likr grth qusrisn and krogans.

I hope I'm wrong but it's one of the easy ways out for a writer that wants something new and want to cut off all bagage to focus on the new story.

It is too early for Yahg to become sentient species, maybe in 40.000 years. Practically they're savage animals hunting in pack right now.

Small aesthetic changes would'nt hurt like Qunari being all awesome in DA2 over DA:O, but considering the FF elves of DA2 I would be anxious to see something like that in ME.

If you look at the original artworks for Asari you'd notice how they're pretty flatnosed and a tad less human-looking. I'd like to see something like that because they're too much like a "more-human" version of a Star-Wars Twi'lek.
