playing right now, seems quite promising, boots of speed, heals, but can not get past the first level because it has a bug that takes me back to jova north, when I have to enter the guild hall nocturne. Already got the key and the quest at city hall. Can you help me?

Yes I can. You are trying to access a clan hall. These areas are restricted to only members of the respective clan. The Nocturne 'Castle' you are looking for is beyond south Jova. It is considered an epic area with bosses. You would be much better off to start on Critter Isle and then move through Jova Woods.

Tried it and found out you don't use my unofficial patch when I first fired an arrow from bow. Since you claim to fix any bugs players find out, I recommend you to try it. It would also helped with the big lags created by luring and massing many monsters via aoe spells which is how I exped with wizard yesterday, everytime I lured a pack of 30+ monsters it made quite a long lag due to the bug in AI. PM me for details if you are interested.

anyway, since you havent posted link to forum, I will report issues I found here:
1) loot in sewers/mage mansion is godly, i found +2, +3 weapons even +5 armor for paladin, while in tougher areas there is usually very crappy loot both from monsters and chests. Was able to buy gear for lvl 20 for money from this loot in first area I found which seems not intented.
2) east area transition back to vegepygmys in gorgon area doesn't work
3) when teleporting to the town monsters chasing player often run into corner of current area - they should stop and wait at the spot PC disappeared imo
4) deers in woods just stay and wait to be slaughtered, looks quite lame really...:innocent:

Im really enjoying this server, I have to confess: I had given up nwn, but now I'm even scared, I spent all Saturday playing and I should be studying.... Is there any guide or forum available on the module jova?

Thanks. Glad you are enjoying it. It had been retired for some time and for no apparent reason, I just decided to repost it. The forum is pretty old, but its still up and available. Maybe one day it'll return to its glory of being full all the time.

A couple of feedback points:

is there a buff rod available? maybe I missed it from the merchants...casting 20+ buffs manually via radial dial is....meh.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I got my PC to LLoths Tower in the drow underworld, made my way to the 3rd floor and entered what looks to be the "boss room", but there was nothing but 4 more Guardian spiders.

Er...why would you EVER need to cast 20+ buffs from the radial menu?

Bless, Entropic Shield, Pro Alignment, Aid, Darkfire, NEP, Endurance, Bulls Strength, Eagle Splendor, death ward, freedom, Imp Invis, Stoneskin, SR, True Seeing, ext Divine Power, Ext Regen.

Ok got me, only 17. But on low magic worlds, add in GMW, Shield of Faith, and 2xMagic Vestment to that, for 21.

I wait to use Ext Battletide and ext divine favor until right when i engage.

Why radial dial? because it's soooo much faster than having to mouse click all over from quick bars, particularly after having to hit shift or ctrl.  I can actually stack them all way faster than they cast, and then i get a drink or use the bathroom while they resolve.

I can stack them far faster than they cast with clicking the quick bars and it is significantly faster than using the radial in my experience.  I've never had to use the radial for more than one or two weak buffs outside of combat.

Well for me it's the other way - the finger gymnastics on the radial on a real keyboard are much easier on my wrist/forearm than moving a mouse all over the screen.

Either way, both are a pain the butt.

Ah, you actually use the keyboard for the radial? Interesting. Either way, yes, way too many buffs in NWN.

Though a drawback to the buff rod is that it might make it too easy to rebuff in combat for the builder's desire. Obviously you can then make it not work if there's a hostile nearby and so on but it is something to consider.

Yah, every buff rod I've seen wasn't usable in combat/hostiles nearby.

I've never even thought about buff rods, what awesomeness this is!

http://nwvault.ign.c...s.detail&id=718

Seems to be very solid.

What I'm curious of is, if you have 20 buffs stored on a rod with 20 visual effects going off simultaneously, doesn't that hit server performance?

I've never had any issues with buff rods - for one, you're not in combat and most are caster only anyway. Also, not every spells visual fires off, at least the ones I've seen....

The short order cook in the tavern offers some tasty treats that give quick status boosts. You should try some.

There is also a boss drop called the "Mages Quick Reference" that will let you use it as a sequencer without having to equip Isaacs Sequencer Robe.

There is also a super secret potion called the "Super Buff cocktail" that is given by a DM. I promise 2 full stacks to anyone who can recruit 5 or more players to come. Image IPB

** I will consider looking into buff rods, but it kinda makes spell selection during level up a little less important...

How so?

Just don't cast the spell if the player doesn't have it.  It still uses the players spells, it just does it much more quickly.

@fallen - buff rods are not like a sequencer - you don't store a spell and then use the item to cast it. Basically, you cast a bunch of spells on the buff rod, then when you activate the buff rod, if you have the spell in memory (or have uses of that level spell if bard or sorcerer), it will cast them all in one action. But since it actually casts them, it also removes that spell from memory (or for bard/sorc uses up 1 use of that level spell).

So it's not letting you cast additional spells or cast spells without using slots from memory, it just lets you cast them all in one action to save time. And most of the buff rods I've seen, especially on the vault, can't be used when in combat or if anyone in your party is in combat in the area, so rebuff mid-combat is still a 1-at-a-time casting.

Fallen - how do you move on doing the tomb quest if you die - the key is lost when you unlock the tomb and the mayor won't give you another, he just asks "do you have a head for me?"

Or do you have to wait for a server reset?

Also, i killed Unisry (spelling?), but the journal says I've returned the head of Erenion....?

No Problem Guys, When you enter each of the thumbs you have to teleport to tavern so your position is saved if you Die. Another problem with this quest is if someone of you party start the quest you do not receive the key, and there are no way to reset this quest or i just could not figure out how to reset.
But I'm really enjoying playing in Jova , I have to stop for about two weeks as it begins the season of tests here in college .
It is a module in which you can play solo , in all areas have an average challenge, no matter what class you are playing , combat or magic , bosses always have a weakness we can exploit and make fun experience as well . Some points that may improve quite the player experience:
* The bosses have a very long respawn time . If someone killed a boss before you arrive , you 'll have to wait a long time to be able to face him again
* There are areas in the epic server ? Dante and I tried quite but still could not find any epic area , but I remember well that Alucard told me that areas of high difficulty are completed only if you 're in a group existed .
*Stronger bosses -> stronger items
Well, summarizing all the servers I tested this was the only one who could satisfy my style of play .
I only have one thing to say to you , keep Improving , even small things from time to time , either way you 've done a great job so far.
Thanks for providing us this fun time and thanks for the players like Dante e shadow for the help in game, please don´t quit. I'll be back in two weeks . maybe getting in some minutes a day.
And all please excuse me about my english , is terrible .... using google translate here

So building on the respawn timers - the mob spawns are VERY close together and in many cases spawn right on top of you, making missile PCs very difficult and potentially dangerous for casters as well.  Also, they are densely packed on many areas making it difficult to get in and out anywhere in a timely manner, even with lower level mobs with no chance of killing you.  After a bit, I just decided to use Improved/Normal Invisibility and bypass them altogether after killing a few groups.  The mob respawn timers are VERY short, most seem to be in the 2-5 minutes range, again which makes gaining xp nice, but with the top end xp at 2400 per kill, it's already super fast anyway, but makes travelling across maps without invisibility very tedious at levels 35-40.

For example the plains of sorrow map for going from town to Zero Midnight, you probably had to fight through 20 groups of spawns, each taking 30-60 seconds to kill.  10-20 minutes on 1 map of monsters that have zero chance of killing a properly equipped level 40 was meh to me, so I just invisibled past them after the first time.

my first PC was a classic cleric 26 bard 4 RDD10 str-based melee buffer (Blood and Faith if you want to look it up).  At no point did my PC ever come close to dying.  After the first couple levels when I got enough cash to buy some real gear at the shop in Jova, I didn't have any trouble (e.g. take damage more then 25% of my HP) until a few of the highend spider fiends on the way to the drow areas.  Once getting gear in the drow merchant, the lowest my HP total went was in once against a greater balor (maybe 25% from full) and against the final human Noctu form (maybe 15% from full).

Now that build has a ton of buffs that help negate a lot of attacks (e.g. death ward prevents quivering palm, nep protects vs harm and extra negative dmg, the elemental buffs help against initial spell blatss, rdd makes fire useless, etc), but I went hunting for a challenge and couldn't find one.  Now it's possible I didn't find any of the epic areas, but I'd wandered around across the dragon coast until it wrapped around back to plains of sorrow.  I didn't take the boat into the underworld since it said you couldn't come back, but maybe that's it...

-------------

Now all that aside, I've quite enjoyed playing and leveling up my 2 PCs I created there (the one above and a Bard 24 Ftr6 RDD10), so please take the above as constructuve criticism.  It would probably be more challenging with a more average build, so maybe that's a route I'll take.
