So the other day I decided
that I wanted to play through Mass Effect again and I went into Steam to
re-install the games (ME1 & ME2). But I also own all of the DLC for Mass
Effect 2 and remembered the DLC from ME1 so I checked the Steam DLC page but no
luck. However I remembered that Bioware was an EA company and that I also had
an Origin account so I switched my download over to Origin and started trying
to track down my DLC though there. But the DLC isn’t on Origin it’s trapped on
this site where it had to be downloaded and installed in over ten separate setup
wizards. Even better the ME1 DLC is nowhere to be found on this site so I had
to spend another 20 minutes searching Google to find where that was. In truth
by the time I was on install number six I no longer wanted to play Mass Effect
and simply deleted the games off my hard drive. I had plans to play through
both games and then purchase Mass Effect 3 but it turns out that the DLC system
is just as bad on that game as well. I can understand that you guys have some
kind of issue with Steam but there is no excuse for not listing it on your own
companies program, Origin. The current system really only punishes those
customers who were foolish enough to purchase the whole catalog and ensures
that many more will never even bother looking for the DLC.
