There are always people hiding in the corners. The inosepens(I think, the guys who came before the protheans) had some survivors, who the protheans enslaved instead of collecting their knowledge.

Javik survived when when his people lost.

So, who do you think would survive of Shepard refused the catalyst's options?

I think the Raloi, Yahg, Kiriks, and Geth would survive, and probably some camp of humans somewhere, because it seems like humans in the ME universe are just that awesome.(and there are humans with the Kiriks, and the Kiriks aren't space faring yet, and probably won't be harvested, so the humans there are safe)

Well the Geth probably get overwritten and used to replace the Keepers, does that count?

since there is no context at all as far as refusal goes within the game apart from a brief glimpse of glyph and liaras projection in a cave, we really have no way to tell at all.

Oh wait... Shepard would Survive....indeed he does.

For all we know Refuse is the correct solution.... With the endings who knows?

Well, the Geth aren't exactly AI's, they each have their own free will, or they are all dead already, so overwriting all of then would prove difficult.

Leviathan survived countless extinction cycles,so they will survive yet again. And so will pre-space flight races like Yahg will be left alone.

Nontechnological species only. So yahg, kiriks, etc.. Maybe raloi if the Reapers are stupid

Zaeed is the only one to walk out alive.

Just picture them cracking him out of a cryo pod like Javik...

The geth would only survive by hiding, I think. A straight-up alliance with the heretics in ME1 ended up failing, the overwrite in ME3 was reversed, and the non-heretics proved a formidable opponent, so I don't think the Reapers would just leave them alone. If they can upload their individual consciousnesses into a capsule with a stealth drive and launch it into some uninhabited region of space, maybe the Reapers would miss it, but I think they'd destroy or harvest any active geth platform they could find.

And I think humans are done unless some people are put into hidden life pods like Javik was. Past history suggests that once the Reapers start their harvest, nobody from a targeted race who's still conscious survives.

The yahg and raloi might be spared, though if the Reapers are thorough enough, they might target the raloi simply for their knowledge of the Reapers' existence, since the Reapers seem to keep themselves a secret until it's too late. Similarly, it's unclear if any yahg have made it off their homeworld other than the Shadow Broker and the one at the STG base, so whether or not they have some idea what's going on in the galaxy is unknown.

In the short term, I guess Liara probably escapes Earth, unless she had pre-recorded that intro for the worst-case scenario and given someone else instructions for deploying her time capsule. I'd imagine at least some of Shepard's current and former squad probably die there, though.

I'd have paid a couple bucks for a Refuse DLC showing how everyone died.

I would have, too, AlanC9.

I don't think the Yahg would survive. They are too close to space flight. Humans, etc., were left alone because they were primitive. I don't think the Raloi would be able to fool them, particularly since there are records of them on the Citadel and the Citadel would fall.

I don't think the reapers would bother with Parnack at the end of this cycle, because they were clearly primitive enough to put them on the salarians' sights for uplifting. If they were leaving Parnack alone, it's safe to assume that this indicates their plans for them.

The raloi, on the other hand, would be done for the moment the reapers capture the citadel.

I disagree on the Yahg, KaiserShep. It's true they aren't spacefaring, but considering how well the Shadow Broker did for as long as he did, they are clearly able to easily adjust to more advanced technology. I think the Reapers were leaving them alone at the moment because they weren't going anywhere.

The Quarians: Deep underground vaults built by the geth. The surrounding rock is impervious to Reaper weapon fire: witness the fact that the when Shepard was fighting the Rannoch Reaper, the rock directly behind and surrounding Shepard didn't take even a smidgen of damage. They will go into cryosleep powered by solar arrays scattered around the desert, and by tidal and nuclear power. While the rest of the galaxy is getting reaped they'll be ready. There is no way the reapers will know. Plus the few million remaining aren't really worth bothering with. The planet will appear completely vacant when the reapers arrive in force.

Geth: The will be underground with them in shutdown mode. Their main server will be sleep mode with a timer deep underground set to activate in 1000 years. Then a few will activate and go to the surface. If it is safe, they will activate the rest of both races and they will rebuild their civilization, and rule the galaxy.

Harbinger: Seize him. He will ascend with the rest.

Reaper #104: I detect high levels of rage. I...can see forever in his bad eye.

Harbinger: It seems as though this one has already ascended. Reapers. Roll out.

The reapers only survive presumably for one more cycle in refuse, though we're not sure the nature of their defeat.

one asari (plus a relatively peaceful sentient species) would be enough for them as a species to survive.

EDIT: actually if asari can mate with completely different species then does sentience really matter? couldn't they just use anything with a nervous system?

Hackett.

You just know the idiot who doomed the entire galaxy will live long enough to nag every survivor over how they could have won if only Shepard trusted the magical battery whose purpose was a complete mystery and simply did as the Reaper Overlord told him to.

As long as there is one asari alive, there is still hope.
