This has never happened to me on this game on PS3 (or PC).

About the only time gender ever came up as a topic/question was one fellow who heard me on the mic and wanted to confirm if I was a woman or prepubescent boy.

Similar to what Cyonan said it shouldn't matter, but it does change the behaviour of others towards you. In my case it was an annoyance, for Cyonan he found others were being nicer to him, whilst Nate_Assassin implied they were getting kicked from lobbies because of it.

No, thankfully. Not that I would care, but it'd be...bothersome. I have heard a dude trying to hit on a female gamer during a match, which was odd, what with there being a big ass ocean separating them and all.

First person 'dude' feels fine, but I feel that third person 'dude' implies that the 'dude' is such. 

"Dude, nice headshot!"
"That dude hugged a Banshee!"

Unless you say 'dudes' which is sort of like saying 'hey guys' ... although in truth you are in fact explicity excluding all of the women by saying 'guys', and subsequently implying that women are kind of a subset of that group.  But I'll stop here and keep it on topic.
