So I was reading a thread on reddit, and given all the talk about ME4MP since N7 day, I thought id write down some ideas that ive had. I know not everyone here follows reddit, so im writing these down here too. Feel free to tell me reasons as to why or why this wouldn't be a good idea.

Id personally like to see the RNG store back. However, I would like the alternative of being able to buy certain weapons/characters at a premium.

For example, say a PSP guaranteed 2 random gold weapons/characters and had a 15% chance of dropping a random UR which sells for 100k. In addition to the PSP, we have some sort of Black Market pack, which sells for 1.5 million. This pack will contain a random consumable (medigel, rockets, ops packs, thermal packs), 3 random gold cards and a guaranteed random ultra rare. In addition to THIS pack, we have a weapons store and recruitment camp. This is where you can buy specific weapons and characters to use. They would come at a premium though. 250k per gold weapon and character card. 2.5 million for a specific UR card which changes every few days. This UR card is bundled with 3 250k gold card vouchers and a consumable of your choice. One for each weapon class. The catch though is that each card has a limited number of redemptions. Lets say, a shipment of 10,000 cerberus harriers arrive in store. These would be available until 10,000 different users bought one. When this cap is reached, the weapon sells out and we have to wait till the following week for new shipments of a different selection of weapons to choose from. Weekend events can factor in these.

Lets say, a shipment of Javelins has been intercepted by the Geth, kill x amount of Geth units as a community in an allotted time to unlock the Javelin as in in store purchase. Personal goal, headshot 500 Geth units with sniper rifles in the same amount of time to receive a voucher, which is redeemable at the store for one Javelin. Cards can be auctioned off, but not traded. The seller receives 85% of the final selling fee.

Moving on. Upgrading weapons. You would unlock a weapon. You use said weapon to get a certain challenge done. Snipers need 500 headshots. Shotguns require 1000 one hit kills, Assault rifles need 1000 medium to long range kills. Pistols and SMGs require 1000 close range kills. Once this challenge has been completed, you get an upgrade voucher for use with that particular weapon. You can use this voucher to give your weapon to a gunsmith, who will modify a feature of your weapon (increased capacity/bullet damage/reduce weight/increase armor penetration). You will also lose the use of that weapon for a few days while its being worked on. This also forces you to actually use other weaponry rather than the same one over and over. Each weapon has 10 available upgrades to it. You can also pay a fee to have the gunsmith paint your weapon. Because **** yeah pink Javelins.Again, like with weapons, you can buy upgrade vouchers too. You can only buy a limited amount of them per week, and they will cost a value depending on the tier of the weapon.

Thoughts?

First, you're working within the current model. Don't limit your thinking by adding arbitrary restrictions.

Second, as has been discussed in the past, why should the game tell me how to play? Why does it matter if I want to use the same weapon all the time. That's my choice.

I read it a bit differently, everything new sounded optional.

I liked the ideas well enough. Not sure whether it would be worth adding depth here rather than somewhere else however. Largely specific purchases would not be worth it and not something I would use at that cost.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

In all honesty, if the next game is based on RNG, I won't be playing it. It's the one blight on an otherwise wonderful MP experience. (Points to sig.)

True. I did think about it. But this is coming from someone who uses a lot of different kits. I see where you are coming from, so perhaps losing the use of a weapon wouldnt be such a good idea.

I was under the impression what you were suggesting was completely optional, you don't HAVE to take that upgrade option.

Oh yeah, that would be completely optional. I was suggesting that if you took the upgrade, it would take time for that upgrade to be installed. Stacking the 'vouchers' would be possible, so if you wanted to just wait for a bit before upgrading loads of things, you could.
