Why the RNG store will be back in the next Mass Effect

I'm sorry to tell you. The RNG store will be back. The reason is simple. It is the one of the more addicting aspects of the game. The slot machine and the RNG store have a lot in common. The store simply uses cards instead of wheels. You use a button instead of a handle. Take a spin and see what you get. The Cerberus Harrier is the triple cherry jackpot. You take a small gamble every time you spend your credits and a large one if you spend your money. How many people would have kept playing if you could simply buy the M7 Lancer and upgrade it to X. You would have many of the Ultra Rares in less than a month maxed to their highest point. (Even less time for some who don't work twelve hours a day like me.) All to play horde mode with few gameplay options. The appeal of the game wouldn't have lasted as long as it has without the RNG store. Many of us, myself included play the game just to pull the handle on the slot machine to see what I am going to get next. With such a addictive formula in place why would they change it. Expect more gameplay options in Mass Effect 4 but the store will be back. Six out.

yeah.you're right

But would they add a trading system. Trade sabers for harriers?

It'll be back because microtransactions are really profitable.

Your title should be either, "the Next Mass Effect," or, "Mass Effect 4." Also, I agree completely. Someone made a post asking why items were random, and if that was standard for video games. My response was to point out WoW's loot system. RNG is frustrating and insulting, but it's addictive, and anyone who's taken psych 101 knows this. Games that value customer retention over customer satisfaction will consistently choose RNG loot.

Which is unfortunate. Gambling is one of the few ways one can separate customer satisfaction from retention, and gaming companies are jumping on the bandwagon.

Also, what FatherOfPearl said ^

Have you tried playing to...

... get better?
... have fun?
... experiment?

I find those far more rewarding, but that's probably just me.

Off topic, but you could put those alien heads in your sig, so that you don't have to type them every post ;)

Thanks for the info. I look forward to the future threads/posts people will make about how ME4 shouldn't have an RNG store that this thread will totally have an impact on.

Systems like the RNG store or slot machines are also extremely effective in encouraging compulsive behavior. It's not going anywhere.

The people that are going to cheat are going to cheat. The only difference will be the reason they give to say they were justified.

Anyone who is on my friends list knows I play for fun. However the RNG store always keeps me guessing and I don't consider it a bad thing. Even when I get some obscure piece of gold gear im never going to use I think "well I won't get that again because it just hit V." The point is that everything is something.

Sorry I needed to have something to talk about during my twelve hour shift at work watching a empty parking lot and patroling the perimeter of a empty store.

I hear RNG is a lot friendlier if you... grease the wheels a little. ;) $$$$$

Very true indeed. Many of the missile glitchers sight the store as the reason they cheat.

I think there is a diffrence. Many complain about the store. I said it was the reason the game was so successful.
