2 people can move a lot faster than an Army of men.
So when you play the Human Noble Origin your brother really only has a few hours head start on you. So how is it he has time to lead an army all the way to Ostagar and then take a group of men out into the Kocari wilds before you ever catch up or show up?
Does this confuse anyone else?

Ahem. Actually, I never thought that... but it makes a lot of sense. Duncan takes us to camp, the army goes to camp. Damn! That's.. yeah.. confusing.

And it might not be just a few hours, could be a good 6+ hours ahead of you, plus after that crazy night in highever you and Duncan needs to evade capture by Howe's men, which can seriously delay a journey.

More annoying is that Fergus somehow dissapears completely until the end of the game. After i sacrificed myself in my first playthrough, it has a scene of Fergus suddenly showing up and King Alistair gives him back all the Cousland territory plus Amaranthine.
So my character dies for Ferelden only to have lazy Fergus show up and take over the family estate thanks to my deeds. That burnt me, and i wont be sacrificing myself again thanks.

Didn't Duncan have to stop by Recliffe before reaching Ostagar?

Why would he need to stop by Redcliff?
6 hours sounds like a lot, but when your moving with an Army you are moving much much slower than just 2 people would so over the course of a few days or weeks, however long the journy was, you would be making a lot better time and gain all that back rather quickly.
They do not know about the enterance/exit you are using so getting out should be fairly easy, highly unlikely that you would need to avoid anyone for more than 1/4 mile out from the castle.

6 hours is a lot of distance if your army was marching diligently. Granted 2 people can move faster but even so, that escape route could've came out from anywhere, it might even take them on the other side of the castle from the route they need to take, making them take a huge detour to make sure they don't run into Howe's guards.
There are a lot of possibilities, not everything is just distance.

To talk to Arl Eamon to make sure his army is coming to Ostagar, like Duncan mentions when he meets Cailan, although I'm not sure if he went there before or after he went to Highever.

Marching dligently or not, the logistics alone would slow them down considerably. Making a long trip you'd have to assume wagons are coming along with food and supplies, which means repairs, setting up camp would take at the very least twice as long. I'm not just considering distance, however I'd like to point out you seem to be, lol.
Two people can get through terrains that Armies must go around, that in itself is huge!!!
Not that I want a debate, I respect your thoughts on the matter, just disagree is all.
As for Redcliff, all Duncan said was that Arl Eamon says he can still bring his army if Cailen needs it. When your leaving Highover he says you must get to Ostagar ASAP.

Still, you and Duncan might've had to dodge guards for days before being able to move freely, depends on where the passage led out to. That alone could've delayed them by entire days, all the while the army is just marching along merrily.
But narrative time trumps all, I guess *shakes fist at story*

Well meieval army or modern day army the logistics are great with the greater numbers, thus slowing down the process. This is one of the few things I can actually speak intelligently on given my time in the military and the many deployments I was involved in.
It's neither here nor there in the reality of things though, just something that always struck me as not quite right, but as you say there are many reasons I guess.

Definitely something off in the timing, and I'm not faulting your logic, it is most definitely sound. I was just offering other, bizarre reasons it might happen.

lol oh yes much better, cuz then it would spark the whole circle wizard, apostate or blood mage debate!
I appreciate your reasons, as I was looking for others thoughts on the matter.
