Why are you assuming Duncan was in a great big hurry?
While two people CAN travel faster than an army, it doesn't mean they will.

Afraid to get sucked into another thread?
Or am I just reading too much into that?

I was thinking of the same thing. I don't think it's beneath Duncan to purposefully delay their movements so the troops could reach Ostagar before the both of them could reach them to make them turn back.

It actually does make sense; that strikes me as exactly the thing Duncan would do. My only problem with it is the PC not being insistent, but after the shock of the entire event, even that is not too surprising.

There are no horses in Ferelden. They're all in Orlais and other "civilized countries". Zevran tells Oghren that, after Oghren bi***es and moans about having to walk everywhere, and wonders why they don't use horses.
And I resent having to make up a convincing RP-story now, because they really *should* have caught up with Fergus. Dayum!

What if Fergus was also pushing it? If he was in a hurry to get to Ostagar AND had a head start, then you probably wouldn't catch up.
You are the second son, Fergus cops the lot regardless of merit.Coldcall01 wrote...
More annoying is that Fergus somehow dissapears completely until the end of the game. After i sacrificed myself in my first playthrough, it has a scene of Fergus suddenly showing up and King Alistair gives him back all the Cousland territory plus Amaranthine.
So my character dies for Ferelden only to have lazy Fergus show up and take over the family estate thanks to my deeds. That burnt me, and i wont be sacrificing myself again thanks.
