Plenty of people of colour in Scotland, and yes - white priviledge is a thing in there as well. As white people, however, we are often completely obvious to it, because we have newer known a world outside white priviledge.

Also, Scottish also throw plenty of hate at the Polish immigrants and the Roma / Travellers as well - some of the discussions I had with the locals when I lived there were outright disturbing when these minorities came up in conversation. In addition, people were ridiculously rude to me when they mistook me for Polish, but when they learned I was Scandinavian they did a full 180 (because apparently Scandinavian = one of the "good" immigrants? IDK)

But on the topic of POC characters: non-Caucasian facial features and hair styles in character creation (and NPC's) would be nice, and since we're finally getting darker skintones as well, I am somewhat optimistic.

If by lots of people of colour you mean next to none, yes I agree. Even the natives are devoid of any real colour.

Ugh, Travellers are even worse. They have awful hygiene and will make off with anything that isn't nailed down and their manners are non-existent. Used to work in a petrol station so had plenty of experience with them. Cleaning up the restroom after one of them had been in it is not a memory I was pleased to be given. You should see what their impromptu campsites look like after they've packed up and left too.

Oh, and how does white privilege even exist in countries that are full of white people? Not even all white people like each other. It's not like we bumble around congratulating each other on how peely wally we are and "living the dream". British society was built on the backs of those who laboured and died during the Industrial Revolution and was far from pleasant for everyone involved except for that 1% of blueblooded aristo swine.

That's very true. Scots for example. Renowned as violent alcoholics. Which is rooted in fact, because 76% of assaults are because of alcohol and it's rare to go on a night out without seeing at least one fight.

That's so funny, because "rough, crude and common" is how I would've described some of the Scots I dealt with - the Polish people I worked and spent time with were nothing but courteous, generous, and all around decent people.

Also, Poland is one of the fastest growing EU economies, and the home of CD Projekt RED - so if you like the Witcher series, you should probably stop with the hate.

It's easy to have a fast growing economy when you start off at the bottom.

You appear to be mistaking dry and laconic for rough and crude. A simple error. Anything to swing my views on their head right?

I enjoyed the Witcher but still emember that one time CD Projekt Red tried to extort money with threatening letters to supposed pirates.

Aww...poor man. Doesn't even realize that America was never homogenous because It never belonged to us. Furthermore the America that was taken from the Indians absolutely could not have been built without the Slave Trade. So yea. Black people have as much too do with our stolen country as white people do. If other cultures get on your nerves so much maybe you should move to the vacuum where racism and homophobia is cool. And once again.....Bioware is making a better Character Creator and Black people do live in Thedas so this should be a non issue.

The operative word being TOOK, when you take something without permission that Is called stealing, when you murder hundreds of thousands in the name of taking something that's called genocide, when you build something you need labor which was slavery, so anything we've built it certainly wasn't by ourselves. This country never belonged to any race, a few supremacists tried to make that way...they clearly haven't succeeded.

He might have phrased that better, but I wonder if the Americans really did "take" that land. It's just land, and it's not like the Native Americans were doing much with it. I read a theory somewhere that the reason the Americans were able to expand so rapidly was because European diseases effectively killed off millions of Native Americans, the majority of them and basically giving the colonists the room they needed to expand into with minimal conflict. It would explain why there are so few Native Americans actually left in the US and why the Americans didn't just use the locals as a handy source of slaves.

This thread is pointless. I don't care about authenticity as far as looks and features . Don't want ugly party members and major characters like Morrigan that I like. I want them to be attractive . The features should look black, white, or whatever claim is irrelevant .

Yea.. go ahead a beleive "diseases" killed hundreds of thousands off. I'll stick with the "guns,bullets, and murder" proven theory. And they did use Natives as slaves. 

It's so funny you have to qualify the actual native's of America by calling them Native instead of just Americans...funny how that works.

It didnt belong to anyone. If I come into your house and "settle" your home, It would become mine. that doesnt mean I had the right to it. I just killed you and took it. My race doesn't own it now. Well maybe if the natives had been a little more productive with their time and resources there would be a lot more of them. It's just a shame that the British hadn't played more of a role in central America or Mexico would be a first world country too. The Spanish were inept. I mean really, sinking your own economy because they were too stupid to realise that an abundance of gold would diminish it's worth. Sucks that the Darien Scheme didn't pay off, but oh well. Got the British Empire and all it's glory instead.

I hope you're not referring to ancient Egyptians, who were actually mixed race and were conquered by Alexander the Great.

Actually the ancient Egyptians weren't mixed race at all. They were just a swarthy Caucasian people, like the Sumerians. Any black Egyptians were imported from kingdoms further to the south.

I did watch Shaka Zulu on PBS many years ago and it was well done. But the zulus lost to the British and the Boers who had guns.
I think it's ok to stand up for your race, but you can't compare those black empires to Ancient Greece, I'm including the Macedonians and Alexander the Great with them and the Romans. There's no comparison . shrugs.

Alexander the Great was about as white as they come. Unless white people aren't allowed to have dark hair and eyes any more? You're wrong about the "lily white world". While there *were* a great deal of rich and vibrant cultures the majority of Europeans and people in the Middle East and North Africa were white or near enough as made no real difference. They came in varying shades ofc, and blonde and red hair and blue eyes were pretty uncommon outwith Northern and Western Europe but still. Not all white people are Aryan supermen. I myself am a Celt and I've got whiter than white skin, but my hair is jet black and my eyes are dark brown. Look rather like a Basque except I'm of prime Pictish stock with a bit of Gael thrown in.

lol omg is this far from the truth. this is exactly what I mean. On tv they only show the savage tribes like the Zulu. there is so much wrong with this I don't even know were to start. the Greeks and romans were nothing compared to the ancient Nubians or the ancient Ethiopians. See they aren't going to show any of the powerful black civilizations on tv. they are only going to show the poorer savage ones. The ancient greeks and romans were children compared to the ancient black civilizations. you just haven't heard of any of them. And alexander? lol. when he saw how big Candice of monro's army was and how many war elephants she had, he order his entire army to retreat with out even fighting.

I think it's ok to stand up for your race, but you can't compare those white empires to Ancient Nubia, I'm including the Egyptians, the Ethiopians, the Cu****es and Queen Sheba with them. There's no comparison . shrugs
