Can we make black characters with black features?

Isn't Duncan actually from Orlais? I'm pretty sure they mentioned that in one of the novels.Han Shot First wrote...

I'd favor it if there were african analogues in the game's world, but so far there do not seem to be. I don't favor smashing the lore just to appeal to some players.
Some of the Rivaini are black.
They are said to have skin tones that range from tan to ebony. Isabela and Duncan just happened to be of the tan variety. Also the new companion Vivienne is a black woman. Her origins are unknown, but given the already established lore on Rivain, its been speculated that she might have either full or partial Rivaini ancestry.
At any rate, black people exist in Thedas.

I wouldn't care, but it doesn't matter to me. At all. I have no interest in recreating my high cheekbones or my coarse hair.
I'm black and yet don't make that a priority in my games. I'll admit my favorite Shepards are both black in appearance though the female one has green eyes in my favorite playthru with her. Neither was my first go to shepard as I recall, my first male Shep was white, and female shep was white as well (neither were defaults, so I actively chose to make them look that way.) In Dragon Age the same deal, I have no "black" looking protagonist, and it wasn't until DA2 that I made one, but didn't like the way the rest of the family looked because of it, and subsequently quit the playthru.
just for reference

I stopped using Frags and started trying to use the end game Screen Shot savers for I think for ME3 but for some reason they either don't work or got damaged so no can show, which is especially bad because thats when my male shep looked his best, unfortunately Femsheps in ME3 look terrible no matter what you do, I think BioWare did that to make Default FemShep not memorible or beautiful.

@animedreamer: Why does something have to be 100% inclusive?
Am I just taking for granted that people understand that not everything always applies 100% of the time to everyone?
I don't really care to talk about what people may or may not understand/know, I was taught to be as thorough as possible when describing something for someone who might not have knowledge of a particular subject. It's just safer that way.

If you knew what I was trying to describe you'd know that, that kind of hair is exlcusive to people of African descent.

Bob Marley was not born with back length hair people, nor was he born with dreads, it's a process and it took time for it to get that way, had bob marley shaved his head and let it grow naturally it wouldn't be like that nor would it have gotten to that length. *rolls eyes* this is exactly why people avoid talking about this stuff...

Ok... I'll ask it, because no one else seems to be explaining it. But what are "black features"? We all have 2 eyes, 2 ears, and a nose. What exactly are you asking for?
All races have distinct ethinc features. For example, the shape of the body, eyes, lips, and nose.

Nobody irrespective of colour is born with hair down to the middle of their back. It is a matter of growing it what ever your ethnicity. I was just proving a point that short hair is not given when describing black people.

If you're just talking about how hair gets curly, I don't see how a black persons hair would never be able to become long on its own. Or are you telling me afros are the natural state of all black people's hair?
Clearly you've never grown an Afro or you'd know that's a process too and it involves more than just sitting around waiting for your hair to grow out. Can we pleae stop talking about this and move on.

They really aren't. My kid brother has been growing his hair for thirteen straight years with no tampering. His hair isn't totally straight, none of my family's hair is straight, but it's past his buttocks when it hasn't been tampered with. When it gets washed it's a bit longer...and he's as black as can be.

It was your point that black people are incapable of growing long hair, not mine. If anyone should move on, it's you.

Implying that bob marley could never grow his hair as long on its own if he ever were to cut it.

Ok first just a little side note: Bioware usually closes threads on this topic because people always take it offensive for some reason and start insulting each other. Please don't do that I'm not trying to offend anyone.
So lets just get into it. In DAO and DA2 you could make dark-skinned characters but they still looked like Europeans in the face. Also you could only give them European accents which made it kind of weird, Especially in DA2.
DAI I clearly is not going to be a short little 5 hour game which is awesome. its also clearly going to have a lot of NPC's in it which is also good. With that a proven fact I would love if I could make MY ideal Inquisitor for this masterpiece. I would hate to have to play with a character I did not really like the whole.
Like how about dreads or the option to have a African accent or just some thing along those lines.
like maybe do something with the DAO qunari look. I just do not want to be force to have one type of character.
I understand this does not apply to the qunari.
Please people lets just keep it friendly ok?
I think it would be awesome to have a range of voices to choose from and having accent be a major factor, but let's be realistic: it is not even remotely a viable feature. In any game featuring a voiced PC with gender options, you already have two voice actors to pay and lines to make. You're asking for there to be, say, six--three for male PCs and three for women.

For the character creator, this would be great.
Although if they made it possible to be a broodmother through the character creator, I'd be fine with that as well.
I can just imagine the possibilities of having a Broodmother Inquisitor. GLORIOUS.
Careful. Your Cailan is showing.
