Completely different things.

Africans are black. That is the general term for ebony people. African immigrants who moved to America aren't African-Americans but classified as blacks in the US census.

If you can't make a character of "x" gender, then you are doing it wrong.

Either you're on pc with mods or did not really make a black person, latino or asin. There aren't enough options to do it, trust me, I've tried and my profile pic is the closes I got. He looks good, but good enough.

Nope, on the 360. No mods and made them to my liking, as I know a lot of latino and black folks.

Ignoring the profile pic, I would like to have more features as well. It was easier to create and black PC with Mass Effects CC screen. They could easily bring some of that over to DA, especially with the new engine.

I made a decent black male and female PC in Origins, but I just gave up in DA:2. Even if you made something that looked half way decent, the voice just ruined it all. Once I hear the voice in DA:I I'll decide if it's even worth trying,

Srsly. Southern US accents are amazing, and would suit the dwarves to a T especially with Orzammar's current caste system that is virtual slavery and how corrupt and decadent their nobles and government are. A black dwarf with a Confederate accent is about as far from the Scottish dwarf trope there is and sounds awesomely unique.

The same applies to Arabs. The 'black' Arabs are Afro-Arabs They have mixed sub-Saharan African ancestry.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the ebony-skinned Rivaini aren't white people with a suntan.

Obviously there are different subraces and mixing, because genetics and population drift, but not all dark skinned people are Negroid, or even of negroid origin. Apologies for usage of that term, but it's the most specific phrase I know to describe black Africans of the "usual" sort.

All I'm proposing is that if there are black people in Rivain they shouldn't look like stereotypical sub-saharan Africans. They'd look more like dark skinned Indians than anything, like the Moors of old. Although the option to create any sort of character in the character creator should be available, regardless of authenticity. Goodness knows if I was black I'd want to play a black guy in my game.

You're right, it is up to the devs, but to avoid racial stereotyping it would be in their best interests to at least show they care about the differences of various "black" peoples rather than just throwing in stereotypical sub-saharan Africans. They could always introduce a more genuinely African themed people at a later date.

Some people just suck at using the CC, myself included.

For a very long time I really wished I could make a character based around the appearance of Ser Gilmore. I really did try, but didn't get anywhere with editing the default presets. Happily, I'm on the PC and eventually just decided to use a mod so I could actually have a Ser Gilmore preset to edit. I'm very happy with the result.

Part of the problem is that certain preset features are locked to that preset, and with some NPCs unique to that person. This is in DAO and DA2. The reason for this is that when the devs are designing faces, their CC has more features than ours which can be seen when using the toolset. They can adjust features like the Cupid's Bow and the angle/shape/size of each eye and eyebrow that we just can't do in the CC.
