I had a very weird relevant experience when I played WoW. For some reason my whole guild and others on my server thought I was a girl (grill) and they acted suspiciously friendly. No one ever actually asked me, so when I finally got on TS for a raid I found out that for months everyone just assumed I was a girl. Dafuq.

The weirdest bit was that this grill in our guild told me all kinds of "personal" stuff, thinking I was her new bestie girlfriend. Yeah, that was awkward. She was kinda "outraged" because I didn't tell her I was guy. I kinda thought we were just making conversation.

Also, after that, I didn't get many compliments as to how good I was (even though I was the lead dps in our raid group) or any "random help".

It goes to show...

Sounds like my experiences.  I don't get near as many compliments.  It's also interesting to see how men act towards (who they think are) women.
