On the game’s opening sequence - “When the whole breathless ordeal drew a close and the game’s logo finally faded into view, we had to physically restrain ourselves from actually punching the air with the sheer excitement of it all.”

On combat – “The improved combat has been extolled in the pages of every magazine and website ad nauseam for a year or more and all that remains is for us to confirm that the rumours are true. If we were forced to choose, we’d take Commander Shepard over Nathan Drake or Marcus Fenix without even a second thought.

On exploration - “There seemed to be less planets you could actually land on and explore in Mass Effect 2, but those you could offered a more diverse crop of distractions: some based around combat, some not requiring a single bullet, some that played like self contained vignettes, some that spiralled off into multi-part crusades spanning the entire galaxy.”

Verdict - “Game of the year in January? Oh, go on then.” 10/10

Every review is the same. YAY GOOD SHOOTER ...eh exploration got canned BUT YAY GOOD SHOOTER

It didn't say exploration got canned. It actually said while there is less over all exploration, it's better. Quality over quantity.

How you read that and got "it's been canned" out of it, I have no idea. It's like people want to complain at any cost, even if it's contrary to reality.

As for the thread starter, if you're "extremely worried" about a game that has literally been showered nonstop with praise.....whose lowest score so far is what....90%....then no offense but you need help. You'd be worrying no matter what anybody said, which isn't healthy.

they way your saying it, you make it sound like you'll only get to explore 1 or 2 planets.

Just because you only get to explore 20 planets instead of 30 (exaggeration, i dont know the exact number of planets you could explore in ME1 or ME2), doesn't make that bad. as long as you get to experience more variety while on those planets, it really shouldn't matter.

what matters is that the game remains interesting throughout the 40+ hours of gameplay, and doesn't become painfully repetitive like the exploration in ME1.

From what I have seen in the video, if anything, space exploration has gotten -more- interesting, not less. The weakest part of ME was driving the mako around cookie-cutter rocky landscapes 100 times. While the skyline was sometimes gorgeous, the planet itself was always pretty dull. Never any life. No rivers, lakes, oceans. Rocks and mountains, over and over again.

Now, I don't know what exploration is going to be like in ME2, but I hope that maybe, in ME2 or ME3 we will get to explore some really wacky planets. For instance, the other day I was reading about Saturn's Moon, Titan. Apparently the gravity is so low, and the air pressure is so high, that if a human being were to build a pair of wings, he could fly on titan by flapping his arms. Now how's that for an N7 mission?

Sir, or madam, I believe you need to take a long walk off a short pier. You are so completely and totally incorrect in your every though processes that I dare say you're mother should have opted for the abortion. You are a complete failure as a human being. When you went to church as a child the priests refused to molest you, and your deformed brain.

Crawl back into what ever parasite infested hole you emerged from and hibernate until the equinox. Your bulbous pustule of human filth.

"Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is going to be alright."

Repeat that a couple of times and i'm sure you won't be worried anymore. Worked charms on me.

To OP: I understand why you feel that way, however the marketing campaigns don't show all of the content. According to the reviews they don't show nearly all of the content. I actually think we're in for a big surprise here, it does look like a shorter game but I don't think it is.

It's 6 more days until we find out.

I highly doubt that the sequel would not improve on the first.

I still don't get what people mean by ME not being an RPG. What exactly is an RPG to you? I love ME how it is and fixing the combat up is an improvement if you don't like it fine don't play it go back to DAO (which is a fun game). To me ME is just as much of an RPG as DAO, but what ever floats your boat.

I have no problem with improving the combat i just dont like seeing features that i enjoyed in the original game being stripped away to compensate.

well thats your opinion but  bioware can't please everyone just like every other developer can please everyone. they do something without  upsetting the other.
