Hi,
I have a friend who have the US (NTSC) version of the game, but his game is now... dead :/
He wants to buy it again, but he lives in UK (PAL). The region is not a problem for the game itself (ME is region free), but concerning the save, is it ok?
Thanks !
Save NTSC -> PAL (US -> UK)

NTSC or PAL that just means screen formating, it is irrelevent, what matters is the region coding the Mass effect 2 is not region free, but im pretty sure the saves are universal ..

Hi,
thanks for your answer.
I am speaking only about ME1, I know the second is not region free. My friend just want to keep his lvl 60 Shepard

The devs have said that it "should" be possible being that nothing really changes between them but they said they have not tested it. I think that's all they have said on the subject.

NTSC> PAL has absolutley nothing to do with his games or his saves so it doesnt matter, NTSC just refers to the tv format and most recent t.v.'s have both trust me i know ive got and American 360 with NTSC games and it does not matter .....

Thanks guys...
Akrim_Drak : can you tell me where did you read it ?
FutureBoy81 : in theory yes. But I had a problem with an other game on PS, so I prefer to ask !

It was on the old forums somewhere, I'm sure it's been buried by now but I'll have a look and send you a pm later if I find it.
EDIT: nvm... old forum link takes me here to the social >< Sorry.

What about the save files themselves? Is it possible to open US save files with a European copy of the game (or vice versa)?

That's what I stated earlier, the devs said it should be possible but they hadn't nor would they test it so it's something you would have to do on your own.

Hmmm, I do remember that a guy from the old forums had trouble with savegames, between differently localized ME1 and the Bring down the Sky DLC. For ME2 yet, a DEV stated that savegames will work between ME1 and ME2, whatever the region or the language. I suppose it is the same with ME1, but the DLC may cause problems.
