This is the ever-lasting problem with autodialogue. One person is fine with it while another person isn't, and that's the flaw because we used to be able to select what we wanted Shepard to express.

One of the best things in this game was how they gave the player the opportunity to reject the artistic idea of EDI becoming more organic. Of course it doesn't actually change much depending on what you do, but at least you're allowed to choose "EDI, I don't like your assertions, you're an AI and this is bullsh*t"

If there was a choice in this Hanar Diplomat mission I'd avoid the in-joke in every playthrough because meta-humor stinks so much. It's never funny in my opinion.

It wasn't autodialogue, it was the renegade response.

Well, then I guess it isn't a problem, but I thought it was autodialogue. Are you sure you're not thinking about the Citadel DLC?

Still, the whole "indoctrinated Hanar" idea just reeked of sillyness and THAT was intentional. The fact that they shoved in the "big stupid jellyfish" (which was never funny) gave away that the quest was just for the lolz, and that's a big offense to do when you bring down the Hanar/Drell homeworld, which I DID care about.

No more silly than doing the orginal Hanar side-quest (Citadel: Presidium Prophet) in ME1.

And you don't need to say the "big stupid jellyfish" line in either game.

Unfortunately it wasn't an in-joke yet in ME1. The quest in ME1 was the point where this in-joke was generated and then they went overboard with it in ME3. A joke is not always funny the second time.

Unless I'm remembering the lack of dialogue choices incorrectly, I really don't think you were given a choice in the matter.

Ah, my mistake. I remembered that I had to trigger it. I just assumed it was the renegade response.

It was funny in ME1 because Shepard was just being a complete moron, but in ME3 it's just soulless fanservice.

Eh, I usually don't have a problem with metajokes, as long as they aren't forced. Many of the Garrus jokes felt forced to me, for instance. This one at least gave a reason for them to use that line.

Meh.  I enjoyed it well enough, and it didn't seem like an inappropriate response to what Shepard was absorbing.

Fanservice, sure, but I wouldn't say it's "soulless".

Okay we'll have to disagree, but I thought it was incredibly forced and I was like "shut up ME3..." when I played the quest the first time. I'm just not for obvious try-hards in humor I guess.

Fair enough. Different humor for different people. :bandit:

You can avoid the "big stupid jellyfish" line by simply not pursuing the investigation dialogue.

That's like trying to avoid your favorite flavor of ice cream. I think it was pretty well done. Shepard isn't perfect. Shepard still uses racial slurs. More human.

ME3 is known to have the worst sidequests ever but this one takes the cake for me.

The Hanar homeworld, AKA. partailly the homeworld to the Drell is at stake and this quest is full of bad self-referential in-jokes and sillyness all around... and better/worse yet, that Hanar isn't even written to talk like a Hanar. It says "I have just uploaded it" and "you, blah blah blah"

Whatever happened to "this one" or "these ones"?

Why are all Mass Effect 3 sidequests so redundant!?:alien:

Im sorry mass effect 3? I don't think bioware created a sequel. you are probably confusing walters mass effect alternate universe with a real sequel.

Corners had to be cut somewhere, lets be realistic here. Creating an entire new level on Kahje just for a sidequest would have taken too many resources.

I'm sorry, Mass Effect 2 and 3? I don't think BioWare created sequels. You are probably confusing the alternate universe sequels with a real follow-up to Mass Effect 1 ... yadda, yadda, yadda.

It's actually pretty good if Kasumi is dead, and Bau dies saving the Hanar homeworld.

The guy spends his life in operations in far flung reaches of the galaxy, has survived who-knows-what, and dies in a little room on the Citadel, because of a choice he had but a split second to evaluate, trying to save another alien race's homeworld.

While it is completely acceptable to state your opinion about something, or be humorous about it, this is in my opinion going a bit too far. I don't agree with erezike either, but I think there are other and better ways to state your disagreement with him.

I think they tend to do a lot of the world building in the first stages. From what I can tell from past info at least. I bet they had something in mind here and some graphics built at least.

But things do scrapped, yes. Thessia and Palavan were supposed to play a bigger part too. If they can't address those main worlds the way they planned, Kahje doesn't have a chance.

Shamefully, I have to agree that I sounded like a total jerk. But that was kinda the point.

I can understand it though. I too think all the people saying "ME3 sucks, ME2 is the best game ever, and it was totally loyal to ME1" is a bit annoying.

What's amusing is that they're all flawed, even the "one, true"  Mass Effect.

True enough. I think ME1 and ME2 pulled off more of what they set out to do though, under their respective time constraints. ME3, even in the developer's words, had some significant things cut (enough that it was apparently heartbreaking for them do it).

I think people are finally at the point where they can admit that bioware games aren't perfect! Or even 95% perfect!

I waited nearly two years for this moment!
