Hi guys,
I'm trying to create a new kind of double weapon. I have created a new entry in the baseitems.2da file, I have add **** in all the tiles which make a reference to the TLK file, I have named it as WDbGy an their icons as iwdbgy. Files and references in baseitems.2da are OK.

But when I use the item wizard in the Aurora toolset, my new kind of weapon, don't apear.

Do you have any idea of what could be the problem, thanks?

without having your files in hand to test, i have to guess.

my first thought is that perhaps the lack of a TLK reference for the name prevents the item from showing up. try some different values to strings in the dialog.tlk file and see if this works.

a new double weapon sounds exciting. can't wait to see it.

I created a few new weapon types not long ago, also using **** for the TLK references and had much the same results.

Being a loony, I thus tried putting in some long, random (unused) numbers in the TLK spots and, bizarrely, one of the four worked perfectly, the other three still failed to appear. I've got two of them working now, (the other two I gave up on and lumped in with some existing weapon classes as I ran out of patience trying endless different numbers... I can't see any pattern to those that worked and those that didn't, but it CAN work if you get lucky.)

Also, I know the lightsaber weapon hak had (presumably random) numbers in the TLK slots on its 2da but had no TLK, and those worked in the Toolset, albeit under slightly odd names in the Item Creation Wizard.

(So, check the Item Creation Wizard CAREFULLY for your new entry - it may not appear under the name you think it should. Look out for any anomalies you don't recall seeing before and check them. That's a problem I had with my new weapon types - they were there, just not under the proper, official name I'd given them.)

Thank you PHOD.
I could add the weapon models as a new two-bladed swords. But I wish to add it as new weapon in order to have the same stats that the weapon have in the official manual "expanded psionic's handbook"....

the new weapons i have made use a custom TLK (but I suspect using an entry in dialog.tlk would work) and are at a higher index beyond the Project Q changes. My maul and long spear happen at indexes which are 256 greater than a comparable weapon in the default indexes for weapons.

Thanks Henesua & PHOD:

The weapon in matter is the Gythka, one of the iconic weapons of the Thri-kreen. And I don't think that I can found "Gythka" In any of the TLK files of the game. so if I can't give them their true name, I probably add it just a new kind of two-bladed sword.

By the other hand I could try to made a new tlk file. however I'm not happy with complicating the use of new content adding too much files.

Thanks again.

It's only the Item Creation Wizard I get strange names from with my custom weapon types - In other words, once you've created an item and called it "Thri-kreen Gythka" or whatever, that's what it'll be called in the Toolset and in-game.

What about when it is unidentified? I think the name of the type of item is retained for this purpose so you should use a good name.

I finally have decided to create a new tlk file. And It's working well now. Thank you Henesua and PHOD.

BTW; I'm working in the Chatkcha too, which is a throwing weapon. I have read, that there can't be more ranged weapons in NWN than the ones which already exist, and the unique way to add a new ranged weapon is replacing one in the game. Is that True? thanks again....

You could just replace the shuriken in your module with the chatkcha. Use your new .tlk file to do up new name/description for the weapon, add the new line numbers to the baseitems.2da file, add new appearances to your hak to replace the shuriken ones.
