The thing I like most about Traynor is she's in the same weird middle ground as Shepard (or at least my Shepard). She helps rescue Grissom, but she'll also make some defenses for Cerberus later on.. since she turns out to be one of the survivors of Horizon. She's one of the "Lost" when ME2 had those marketing campaigns back in the day: Fight for the Lost. She helps she reminds you your time there wasn't a complete waste of time.

Does she? I thought she only defended Shepards involvement in Cerberus while calling them bastards.

I don't remember the exact lines.. but yeah, it's more about Shepard.. I just think it's cool you at least get some acknowledgement that you tried to do some good. ME3 otherwise has a way of making ME2 feel like a colossal waste of time.

edit: Not sure when it pops up. Might be the Cerberus scientist mission, when she talks about how the Alliance was doing nothing back then and how she was visiting her parents on Horizon.

It is the Cerberus scientist mission, I just watched the scene. I think she only defends Shepard.

T: A group of Cerberus scientist cut ties and fled. Perhaps they finally realized they were on the wrong side
....
S: Lots of Cerberus people thinking they're doing the right thing. I know I did.
T: And you were right commander. Whatever crimes Cerberus is committing now ....  I was on Horizon when the collectors hit ....

For Taynor, I would have had her in EDI's place for the invesigative parts of Leviathan, with maybe a surpise encounter where she has to kill somone for the first time and feal with the emotional aftermath

I agree that she would've been better in that part of the dlc especially when trying to track the signal and when Anne mentions the rachni since Samantha also studied the rachni.

Wrex- I'm far too alone when preferring him to Garrus. My main guy to go on missions with in ME1...my one disappointment of ME2 when I realized he wasn't coming with me.

No, I wasn't a huge fan of Garrus either. He's alirght...but here goes nothing:

He felt almost as forced on me as Liara did in the end...

*hides in corner*

So, I'm not the only one that felt that with both of them. There is hope for this forum, yet.

As a paragon, it felt nearly impossible to avoid a romance with Liara...she/the game just kept pushing it and I'm pretty sure all the flags were raised to lock it down long before I realized she or anyone else were romancable characters. I didn't check achievements before hand, because I didn't care for them at the time and I simply didn't think it was going to be a feature of the game. I was surprised by that and just assumed my shepard was supposed to hook up with her.

as for garrus. he just never clicked for me. interesting enough character, even though it felt like I could do no wrong by him and he would accept everything I said to him...I guess I didn't care for a character to mold.
With Wrex, he was already a developed character and someone I could see more of as a peer than a pupil. I liked that. The fact that he was willing to confront/pull a gun on me and endager his own life(as a survivalist), however ill-advised...it only made me respect him that much more.

Looks like many people see Wrex as the true "bro".

Besides the feeling of being more a peer, the other thing is Krogans were once the heroes of the galaxy, and they got screwed.. and now the ball is a bit in humanity's court. Will the same happen to them?

Not that Krogans and humans can relate all that much, but there's a collective peer relationship there as far as being outsiders of the Council. ME1 tries to remind you of underdogs a bit (Krogan, the Volus and Elcor diplomats, and Quarians), and I partly saw Shepard's destiny as helping them out in addition to humans. But the relation to the main Council races was iffy.

Garrus is an outsider too, but only because he's a "bad Turian", in his words. He's there to redeem his people's name.

You're free to see it that way too, of course. That's the great thing about these games.

Yes, thanfully you can see things how you want outside of the autodialogue thingy.

Anyway, my list of best characters. I'll pick one from each game;

Wrex - Wise Old Badass, my favourite kind of character. He's tough, but without being a moron about it. He just is.

Zaeed - Could have been Legion too, but he arrives too late. Therefore; Zaeed. A character I should have disliked, but really tought was cool/fun. And if you hate him, you can actually not only tell it to him, but show it. Paragon punch. Few other squadmates you can be this honest with. That earns him a nice bonus point in my book.

Javik - Adds something which is lacking in ME3 without him. Trust me, I have played two playthroughs without. With him, the prothean arc continues and receives an conclusion, and he is pretty much the only proper renegade character on the team.

It is strange these are my favourite characters. I am very nice guy IRL, and I normally hate these type of persons. Strangely enough, these characters are totally the opposite of me. Weird.

Wrex! Why weren't you in ME3?

Looks like a cool team, but it lacks Javik and The VS.

Take a look at the "What would you change about..." and "Who would intimidatr who?" discussions. One thread had people crying about Jack & Miranda, the other degraded into feminism and ATTENTION****7204 debates. I'm all for an actual C & R thread.

Wow, lol... I had no idea people were actually following along with that discussion.

Let me just say that that is the only "waifu war" that I've ever engaged in since creating this account.

And for that matter, "Jack > Miranda" was not even the point I was trying to prove.

I see Miranda and Liara in the same light.. women who've seen me naked and/or as a pile of meat and tubes. I owe them something.. but don't like taking it too far.

But Jack's the only I'd prefer seeing me naked.. and might even be able to turn me into a pile of meat and tubes.

It has been said before and I concur: this thread won't end well.

That being said... here are my fav characters:

1) Wrex. Do I need to say more?

2) Javik. The Grandfather Troll.

3) Kasumi. How can you not like her?

4) Garrus. Space Batman.

5) Zaeed. He's so badass!

Here are my fav romances (MaleShep):

1) Tali.

2) Jack.

3) Liara.

(FemShep):

1) Garrus.

2) Liara.

3) Kaidan

My dream team for ME3 before it came out. My Psychotic Biotic LI and my main Brogan(trademakring right now).

You can't imagine my disappointment when I realized they weren't going to be squadmates....oh, wait.

Honestly, I'm surprised this thread has made it past 3 pages without devolving into a flame/waifu war. Though I'm not complaining either.

Top 5 favorite squadmates
1. Liara- I find her innocent naivete adorable, and once she finds something that interests her and or if there's something she feels needs to be done, she goes all in. Doesn't hold anything back.
2. Wrex-Never afraid to speak his mind, and doesn't apologize for who he is. Plus I like his sadistic sense of humor.
3. Garrus- A good friend to have my back. Also like his corny sense of humor. A little too impressionable for his own good though.
4. Kaidon- Level head, and an overall good guy. Strangely enough, I don't usually bring him on missions. Liara had the biotics handled and Garrus had overload along with AP ammo and concussive shot.
5. Tali-Kind of like a little sister I never had. Another squadmate I didn't usually bring with me unless there were geth involved.

Honorable mentions go to Grunt, Samara, Mordin, Kasumi, and Legion(ME2).

Favorite LI- Liara.

And despite the fact I always liked Garrus as my bro, I wouldn't have been the slightest bit disappointed if his role in ME2 and Wrex's were switched. As in, If garrus was too busy trying to do things right at C-Sec and or being a Spector and having Wrex go with me instead.

Personally, I would have liked to see Toombs, Rana, and Sidonis come back as kinda of a Dark Avengers take on Shepard's squad.

I see no problem with this. I believe he would be a volus protector, toombs would probably be an infiltrator or the equivalent of a vanguard slayer, rana as an asari valkyrie or huntress and sidonis is a turian sabateur or ghost

So Mass Effect 3's Ashley romance has some bugged lines, but there's one actual in game line I saw on YouTube where Shepard tells her that when he first saw her on Eden Prime he "didn't know his life would change" during the romance scene, but on my playthrough he says "I saw a woman who never gave up". This is weird to me because I romanced her in Mass Effect and was loyal through Mass Effect 2 and have played once paragon and once renegade. Anyone got an Idea about what makes the difference? and also in the original script there was a scenario where you had to pick between the Virmire survivor (Kaiden/Ashley) or Liara and one of them would die. This would happen if you had not successfully held back Kai Leng in the temple. Who would have liked to have this scene and who would you pick? I would obviously choose Ashley. And anyone know any other plot elements from the leaked script that should have made it into the game?

Yeah, the whole Virmire/Liara thing was supposed to be pretty elaborate. I think it took place on Thessia. I think it was tied in to the introduction of Javik as well, and him being the tied in more to figuring out the Crucible.. but Cerberus was there to kidnap him, and Leng kills one of your squad. They had to drop all of this, scrap everything about Javik, and then write something simpler. Then what work was done on Javik got relegated to DLC. They didn't intend for him to be "first day DLC".. it's just that they had a lot of work done already, and recycled it.

Anyways, as much as Liara sometimes annoys me, it's still a hard choice. It'd depend on my playthrough. Sometimes the VS annoys me more. Heh.
