I know we won't know for 3 months or so(someone said Gaider said that we should find out the romance options by Valentine's Day) but speculate who will be the male romance options(the women guys will be able to romance). I'm kind of worrying that the two will be Cassandra and Vivienne and that worries me since they don't seem (IMO) to be romantically appealing. I know in DA2 it was just Isabella and Merril and I always went Isabella because she caught my attention right away and Merril just seemed....I don't know, undesirable. In DA:O, I liked both Morrigan and Leliana so it was a harder choice to chose and I knew on my second play through, I would chose the one I didn't the first time around and I hope to have the same type of options in Dragon Age Inquisition. So from the female characters we do know confirmed to be in our party and female characters you think will be in our party, who will be the male romance options?

Took me several read throughs here to figure out that by "male romance options" you meant romance options for straight male players, not the gender of the LIs themselves; my brain just kept skipping over the relevant bit of text.  Obviously I'm too tired to still be reading and posting, lol.

I expect that Bioware will stick with its plan to make the LIs available to all genders, per DA2, which would mean that the romance options available to straight males will be the same ones available to everyone else.  I've heard people say this won't be the case if we have more than four LIs, but I've not read anything official on it myself.  Personally this is exactly what I hope we get: LIs available across the board to everyone so that players won't be forced to play genders they don't want to or else be cut out of experiencing an LI the way they want to.

Can't really say much about Vivienne, but I do think that Cassandra will be one of the LIs.  I hope that Vivienne is, too, since I like what I've seen of her character so far.  Based on his popularity I bet Cullen will be a romanceable companion, too. 

Personally I hope, I REALLY hope, that Varric is romanceable, both just because he's a wonderful character and also because damnit, it's time we had a chance to romance a dwarf!

Ugh no. I don't mind him being similar to his stance in DA2 about it (if you did the rite in DAO). But anymore angst and I won't take him seriously as a templar.

People in DA do crappy things to people doesn't mean they need to put on an angst a thon.

If it was just one or ten, I'd agree, but we're talking hundreds here. Hundreds of people, plus hundreds more from the Starkhaven influx. HIs DAII self was hardly satisfactory in conveying a moderate approach.

I don't need him bawling his eyes out in every conversation But having some guilt, some genuine human emotion over the fact that he didn't call out Meredith sooner on her BS RoA and committed an act of genocide that was NOT as necessary as Ferelden's was, is vital to making him believable.

The man has issues from his experience with Uldred, and I'm supposed to buy he won't have any from DAII's endgame? Nuh-uh.

If it's over the top angst in every conversation, then I'll be pissed. If it's well done "Am I fit to be a Templar anymore" stuff, then I'll be happy.

Completely agree. Although I do not particularly care about Varric. He is more of my best friend/brother in the games.

If we only have 2 males, and one of them is almost guaranteed to be Cullen... would Bioware take their chances on a dwarf LI being the only other choice? I only see him being an LI if we have 6 total, but then he and Iron Bull are kind of neck and neck... not sure which one is more likely.

And does anyone know anything about Vivienne other than the fact that she's an aequitarian Circle mage? I might just go with her simply because I'm tired of high maintenance LIs. And she's a mage, which is a bonus.

@Ryzaki: Meh, since I don't know Cullen's involvement with the story, I can't say what dialogue he should appropriately have.

At the very least, have him supporting Justinia V who is a moderate. That would be a start to showing he's not on either extreme side and feels something over the incident in Kirkwall.

Sure, but Cullen's background is such that you'd kind of expect him to be a little psychologically f*cked up.

I'm straight, but Loghain's voice gets to me. And the smirk. And the snark. And I'm picturing him with a beard.

He probably gets to me because he's also Judge Zargabaath from FFXII.

If Loghain was an LI, I'd probably roll a gay Warden. Couldn't do it without laughing at the abysmal romance scenes in DAO, and DAII didn't strike my fancy.

Given how popular a character Varric is, I don't think making him the LI would be all that bad of a risk.

You convinced me it's the Grey Warden.  First off, he's human, so it's low risk for appealing to newcomers to the series or just returning fans who don't have any ah... unique proclivities.  Plus, the fact that he'll be facing the Calling sooner than later seems like the best potential for drama that isn't forced...  I know zero about any of the other characters, but if I had to pick 2 at this point from those we do know, I'd bet money on Cullen and the Grey Warden.  Dorian just doesn't stand out yet.  Not sure about him.
