Yeah, I liked the all-inclusive aspect of the romances. It was nice to have options just beyond the one bi LI that I could romance as a guy. Oh well...nothing we can do but to wait and see what happens. :(I guess as long as I can find one LI that looks good and can interest me, I will be satisfied.

This.  I would have romanced Morrigan if I could've.  But I'm damned if I'm going to be forced to play a male character just to experience an aspect of the game from which I'm otherwise excluded.

Exactly. I had the same problem with Alistair. I hated that I only had one choice a gaymer (don't get me wrong though, Zevran was great). I tried to play a female character to try and romance Alistair, then it just felt so weird. I hated the fact that I had to change my character's gender to experience an awesome piece of the game from which I was otherwise excluded.

You guys normally play as your own gender only? I like to try everything and experience all differences. To me it spices things up not to only play as what I am in real life.

I've tried playing male characters before, but it just doesn't work for me.  I've given up even trying.

@Silfren: Gaider always stated that his favorite approach was to have LI with different sexualities: the reason they chose the DA2 approach was because it was the only way for having multiple choices for everyone (his goal) without incresing the LI number; it was never his intention to give the players to romance everyone. He stated that they'd likely follow that approach in DAI for cost reasons; if they changed to the first approach, it might be for the time extension.
While I understand that people could be pissed by the fact that they might not be able to romance the character they want, Bioware stated (Laidlaw on GI, I believe) that they're not afraid of locking players out of content; it seems that they include the romance content in this approach.

I am aware of Gaider's words on the issue, i've read them several times.  My point stands.  I don't appreciate being locked out of content due to arbitrary gender restrictions.  I don't care if Gaider himself didn't like the DA2 approach or that the reasons for going that route were due to resource limitations.  I STILL think that the all-inclusive method is the most appropriate solution, whether you have two LIs or ten.

Misandrist. :P

On a related note, I can't play as female characters. Well, technically, I can, but I can't take them seriously at all.

Not to sound intolerant, but don't you think all this gay/bisexual stuff is off-topic for this thread?

Well, the question of who will be the female romance options applies to straight men and gay and bi women, and the question of which LIs will be available to male players applies to gay, bi, and straight men alike.  And given the nature of the topic, thread drift into orientation options is not all that strange.

You know what they've never done as a romance option?  A nice girl (with
morals, kinda like Aveline) with long blonde hair (with her hair down,
too).  I would like that, though the hair color is irrelevant.  I'd be
fine with be blonde, black, brown, orange or red hair.
^ I assume by morals you mean traditional morals yeah?

They have to mean that, since Leliana and Isabela and Merrill all had quite decent morals.

Exactly. I want my PC to be such a fantasy that all characters magically align their sexual preferences to my presence.

Sounds a bit juvenile power fantasy-ish. Never been a fan of the player-sexual shenanigans. With a couple characters, it might make sense. But for everyone? Comes across as really "artificial" for lack of a better term. I really feel it erodes the character definition. I can deal with "arbitrary locks" if the characters are solid, interesting, and don't do absurd flip flops based on the PC.

The one time I was aggravated by the arbitary lock was Traynor, and that was because they did an all out bait and tease. Other than that, never had an issue with it.

I want something along the lines of a "normal" girl, I suppose.  Someone not insane or cruel.  Someone down-to-earth; a nice person who believes in love, marriage and all that.  Sense of humor would be good too.

I romanced Morrigan because I love the idea of a nice guy winning the heart of the so-called ice queen, Tali'Zorah because I found her personality & voice to be cute as hell even in ME1 and she's very nice, and Leliana (with a different warden, of course) because she's a nice girl.  Bethany would have been awesome if she wasn't Hawke's sister.  In real life, I'm turned off by the Isabella "sex for everyone" outlook on life, but my Hawke chose her anyway because Merill's insistence on blood magic was unhealthy.  Between the three of that lot, Aveline would definitely be my pick, but like Bethany, she is unromancable.

As superficial as this may sound, I don't like Cassandra's short hair, though.

I generally don't put too much stock in the LI in BW games, I think they're a cool feature and all but it's usually something I don''t pay a lot of attention to. That being said, I think I'd be quite disappointed if Cassandra wasn't one of the Male LI options.

If only. You've apparently got a "fetish" if you want a femal qunari for an LI.

Why is that a fetish to desire a romance with a female Qunari?

I'd just sum it up as some people having issues with what other people find attractive.  Anyway, I just poked around at a list of  allegedly leaked info.  Have no idea what's confirmed and what isn't, but I do like the description for Dorian:

"Dorian Pavus is a Tevinter magister. The title conjures fear of arcane master who once enslaved nations. Dorian may wield the power of the magisters, but he delights in not being what you would expect. Brazen and clever, this outcast is on a crusade to rid his homeland of its corruption."

That's rather compelling.  I've wanted to get a different perspective on Tevinter for a while.  The bias against Tevinter from individuals who've internalized Chantry dogma against the Imperium is natural enough, as of course is the contempt for a slave state, but I'm sick of the all-evil-all-the-time characterization of the entire Imperium.  Orlais isn't all that different from the Imperium, really, and it's caricatured badly enough by the games themselves, but even so it isn't regarded as wholly evill, and neither should Tevinter be.

So if it happens that Dorian is an LI companion, I would probably romance him at least once, especially if that description were to be accurate.  He sounds a little like an Isabela-type of character to me.  Or even Awakening-style Anders, for that matter.  I get the impression from reading that that Bioware might be trying to re-introduce another kind of Anders-y character since a lot of people were interested in romancing him based on his Awakening persona.  I could see Bioware trying to re-appeal to that fanbase.

I would like to see him in game, but I am afraid that he might appear to be just the anti-Fenris, which I do not want.

Hmm.  I guess I could see the potential for that, but I don't see why it would be.  If the description were to be true for the final version of Inquisition upon release, then he would be a magister who sees the corruption in Tevinter but also sees it as worth fixing.  It would be interesting if Dorian were to be an Elf character, too, but I wouldn't see that as the anti-Fenris, per se, just because Dorian didn't see Tevinter as wholly evil.

I think that having a Tevinter magister would be interesting. The comics already hinted about a powerful magister exiled.
I've read that one character on the leak was scrapped/heavily changed. It might be him, if the male elf shown in the concept is his evolution. The elf doesn't have tattoos, so he hopefully isn't a dalish (no offence, I'm planning to do a dalish mage as my first PC, but I'm tired about dalish mage companions), and he's still a magister.

I agree with this for the most part.  As far as I know, Cassandra seems smart, capable, and powerful, and doesn't have some glaring personality flaw that you have to fix or work around.  So that's something to hope for.
Eh... let's keep the short hair though.^_^
