I speak fairly of the ME3 ending (post EC, obviously), but even I have to nitpick something. Why the hell couldn't, when the crew is placing Shepard's name on the wall, we see Shepard's first name? There's space on the plaque, it wouldn't require redesigning the entire cutscene to work around, it's not a particularly difficult piece of coding given that the first name of your Shepard is contained within the save files.
IMHO, it would have done a lot just for the touching-ness of the memorial scene. We've never seen or heard Shepard's name in-game; we just name him/her kinda for our amusement. To see that at the end would have added, at least for me, a lot of distinctiveness and feeling to it. It's still pretty powerful emotionally, but I'm just saying. A little bit would have gone a long way.
Anyone have thoughts?
One little tidbit that would have done a lot for the ending

This has come up before. The answer is that it isn't just a simple piece of programming. Especially when you consider that it's possible for your Shepard to have a first name that's way too long to fit on that plaque.

Hmm... I think I would have liked this a lot too, OP.

You know they could easily have limited the number of letters that one could have used for the first name. It was that simple. "Your first name can be 9 characters long." And leave it at that.

Not a difficult thing to overcome. There's an 11-character limit on Shepard's first name. Even if you couldn't make that fit (which, if you watch the destruction ending, you'd see plenty of space leftover), why couldn't you just shorten "Commander Shepard" to "Cmdr ______ Shepard"? They shortened Anderson's title, I don't see why they couldn't do it for Shepard. I took one semester course in computer science and you could literally write that in python with a couple lines of code.

Because the plaque can get ridiculously long. And some people have long names.

I just said that there's an 11-character limit on Shepard's first name. Even if that was too long, which it doesn't appear to be, you could just shorten "Commander" to "Cmdr".

That name is impossible, you can't go over 11 characters.crimzontearz wrote...
