 I'm doing another trilogy playthrough and I've just finished Virmire.  Now, on the assault on the base, I've always disrupted communications, destroyed the sat link and blown up those pesky geth fliers.  But this time I did none of those things and, no surprises, Kirrahe got killed to death.

In ME2, I no longer recruit Thane (or Samara) so I was wondering what happens in ME3 with the assassination attempt on the Salarian councillor, if neither Thane nor Kirrahe are there to distract everybodys favourite space ninja.

I love how after all this time I'm still doing things in ME1 that I haven't done before.

I'm glad I did that now, it might make Leng slightly less laughable.

you have to do the above and cut the alarms when you reach the base if you choose to trigger alarms on the far side of the base kirrahe dies.

He'd already popped his clogs by that point. To be exact, I was crossing the bridge to get into the base - after coming through the rocky part, when you get to a platform with a bunch of shields on it and there's two Krogan and a couple Geth in front of you - Ash came on the radio saying he's gone.

Maybe sending the reinforcements to the far side wipes out all the Salarians? I had Captain Rentola on the ship afterwards, with 3 or 4 others.

It is the drones that does it. Skip the fliers and Kirahe dies.

In addition, Udina shows the VS doctored footage that makes it look like Shepard killed the Councilor.  This makes it much harder to convince them to stand down.
