Quite the opposite. House pretty much tells you he had no aspirations to save the world. His motivation for wishing to save Las Vegas was a love for the city, and a wish to spare it from inevitable destruction. Ulysses even makes a point of mentioning he isn't crazy about a man who will protect one area at the expense of everything and everyone else.

I don't think House is pond scum evil. He just never gives off the impression he cares about people beyond what they can do to support his vision. Forget FotA-like zeal. He's basically a computer who was born a man. XD

Funny enough, it's in fact easier to calm down Ulysses if you sided with House then the Legion and NCR.

Let's also not forget he wants to blow up places with nukes and cause more nuclear fire sooooooo

Yeah, don't get me started on Ulysses. XD I didn't even try to talk him down. Took me all of 1 second to decide he had to go.

Edit: On a side note, I really should stress I don't think anyone is wrong for siding with House. I don't think there's any objectively wrong choice except for the Legion. 'cause seriously, f' those guys. :P

I don't see him the same way as some folks, and that's all there is to it, I guess. Even so, I did feel bad killing the guy. That's quite a feat considering how few characters made me think twice about killing them, or screwing them over.

In the Fallout timeline, where does 2299 sit? Is it during Fallout 3 or New Vegas?

Is the countdown 20 days (+23 hours) from now or just 23 hours from now?

And which region/state do you think the game will be based on?
I guess Great Lakes region, California or Texas region, though a London Fallout would be cool (If it's not in Massachusetts).

^ It's a countdown to December 11.

Honestly, I'll just be happy for confirmation from Bethesda that FO4 is on the table. I couldn't even begin to guess where it would be, but I'd love to see it in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington). Can you imagine trekking around Mt. St. Helen's, or Mt. Rainier? I would just die.

Maybe not even in USA?

Perhaps somewhere in Europe for a change?

Some people are suggesting it would take place in the Commonwealth, Massachusetts, were the androids are made. It would be a little like New Vegas, an savage wasteland with an very advanced technological stronghold right in the middle of it.

I'm hoping it's not in an area that ends up being similar to New Vegas.

They did a good job with the game, but the atmosphere is nowhere near as good as Fallout 3 in my opinion.

The Mojave barely felt like it was a wasteland to me, even if you got out of New Vegas.

I wouldn't mind seeing it placed outside of the USA.

While I would love to see places outside of the US through apocalypse-tinted glasses, simply to see them, I wonder if they really would go down that road?

I mean...the Capitol wasteland was relevant to the studio, because it was their own backyard. Would they attempt to place it somewhere that they're (presumably) not all that familiar?

Honestly, I liked it didn't felt like a wasteland that much.

Cause wasteland is mainly, well, empty.

I really like there is lot of life trying and succeeding to flourish, after the nuclear apocalypse.

While still far to get to per-nuclear state, hence post-apocalypse feel is still there.

To my knowledge, it shouldn't be too hard to find material to use for building the area(s) where the game will take place. It'd be a similar process to studios that attempt to publish games with some sort of historical accuracy: hire a specialist to provide them the research and material to work with.

Whether they're willing to try a new approach, however, I do not know. It would be nice, but there are some places in the US I'd like to see, so I'm neutral on the topic, myself.

Well, you also have to think that the Mojave DIDN'T get nuked. It was just a regular desert set in the FO universe. So it could be more "lush" than other areas.

Actually it did got nuked, but very little as most nukes got destroyed before making an impact.

I think like 4-7 managed to hit out of like 50?

For me, it felt like FO3 had pockets of life that were trying to rebuild in a harsh world after a nuclear war devastated the area which I liked.

New Vegas on the other hand, felt like society just broke down and people stopped caring about maintaining the majority of things. I suppose that makes sense since as Jimmy mentioned, New Vegas actually was not directly hit by a nuke.

Although I will say that I did like the exploration of New Vegas a bit more. My biggest issue with Bethesda games is probably that while there is a lot to explore, there doesn't feel like there is a lot worth finding.

So what if it got nuked? It has been 200 years since the bombs fell, the radiation is probably mostly gone by then. I don't understand why FO3's way feels better, I personally think it does not. There is nothing in FO3 like the Strip or like Freeside, the factions are severely lacking in variety, character and number. FO3 only has raiders and super mutants, it doesn't really have "factions", they are just generic enemies plus the Enclave and the BoS of which, only the BoS is actually friendly.

Instead in New Vegas you've got Boomers, Kings, Vipers, Jackals, NCR, Legion, Khans, Fiends and the Brotherhood of Steel, and most of them can either be enemies or allies depending on what you do. FO3 may have a lot of space but even then, is there a lot to find in that space? Not really, I for one think that it is Fallout 3 which is lacking in atmosphere not New Vegas. Every time I go anywhere in New Vegas it feels great, instead when I had to go somewhere in the Capital Wasteland sometimes it felt boring and more of a chore than something extra.

I like to see New Orleans. A radioactive swamp.

I generally prefer we go to a city location, I liked New Vegas but dislike the desert, Fallout 3 DC was much more enjoyable and truly felt like a survivor.

Fallout: Detroit. It's set prior to the apocalypse but you don't know that until the end, the plot twist amazes everyone and all controversy from the FO3 ending is forgotten.

Not enough radiation and important buildings in New Vegas... not enough factions and meaningful missions to do in Fallout 3 (both somehow fixed with DLCs). Now which one is better?

Does this happen when the PC manages to swim his/her way into Windsor?
