Hey, is the level cap 30 on NV? Just trying to plan how to use my last few remaining perks.

In the basic game, yes. With all DLCs the level cap is 50 (5 levels per DLC).

The level cap is 30 by default. Each DLC increases the cap by five levels.

I don't know how it works on console. On PC you get to the DLC by marking the related quest from your Pip-Boy, then following the marker until you reach the starting point. You can do them in any order at almost any time. I think some might have suggested requirements. I wouldn't know since I tend to wait until past level 20 first.

I like to keep a balance of weapons for different situations. My current character has four guns. XD A sniper rifle for er, sniping. A rifle for mid-range and interiors. A pistol for very close quarters. And a silenced weapon for close range stealth kills. That's my one nitpick about energy weapons. No standout choices for a high sneak sniper gal. :/

As for picking a side, yeah I have a similar issue. I was playing all the way nice gal, but I'm running into issues now. Maybe I should just go with whatever works for me instead of the road not taken prior. I'm unsure either way which is why I didn't delete my other game yet.

---

Obsidian's writers dropped the ball with the Legion IMO. With House and NCR, I can see good and bad sides to their policies. Neither strikes me as an ideal choice the way there's usually an obvious "good" option in most games. The Legion, on the other hand... we're told a few good things about them by a number of NPCs I can count on one hand. Almost everything else we're shown paints them as violent lunatics. It also doesn't help the vast majority of them are arrogant and unlikable. It wasn't until the first time I spoke to that trader at Fortification Hill, then later Caesar, that I started to wonder if maybe the Legion wasn't completely two-dimensional.

I realize part of the problem is NV takes place in primarly NCR controlled territory, but really, Obsidian's writers did a poor job of portraying those guys as people. As it stands, I feel like I'd have to swallow a bottle full of idiot pills to side with them. Especially playing a lady. XD

@Seagloom

I had to whittle down the number of guns I was toting around, as it was ridiculous (and heavy!). At one point, I had 12 in my inventory, and it was a revolving circus of picking up new ones, and repairing the old ones, until finally I maxed each one out and sold the ones I didn't particularly like.

But back to your point, I do have a MF breeder plasma pistol (nothing special) that I've been carrying around, for those 'just-in-case' close up moments, but tend to just go assault rifle instead. I've more or less whittled it down to just about four, too. Plus holdout/silenced weapons.

Along the same line as choosing who to side with, I've really messed myself up by doing too much research into the endings. Decisions that help a couple of groups hurt others, and so on, and I'm having a hard time wrestling with that. I know, it's just a game, but still. It's hard to break out of that paragon mentality sometimes.

For now, I'm resigning myself to settling for having my companions at their optimal state. Anything good past that will be a bonus. Or something.

Oh, and I sold some Boomer suits to Contreras in Camp McCarran, and when I came back later, the fool was wearing one. Posted Image

As for the DLC, I didn't actually install the game to my 360 hard drive, so that might help. I'm also wondering if there was another disc that I've forgotten about. When I get home later today, I shall have to check it out. I'm happy to hear that they raised the level cap! They'd almost have to.

Edit: My hubs just emailed me and said he thinks there's a second disc that contains the DLC. He was looking it up for his FO3 game.

Yeah, not a fan of that hat. Any of their hats, as a matter of fact. Posted Image

And that turd sends assassin hit squads out after me. I find that terribly offensive, and mildly inconvenient. I don't have much use for looting their spears or crappy guns, but I'm happy to spend their money at the casinos. I think it's what they would have wanted. Hehe.

I love the sense of progression in Fallout really.

Going from a busted pistol up to a plasma rifle!
From leather jackets to Power armor!

I loved the ending of Fallout 4, because I busted out my Laser Gatling gun, Remnant Power Armor, and every other toy I had.
It was honestly so easy!

NCR Rangers, Brotherhood Paladins, Enclave Remnants, and a B24!
So many fricking lazer beams!

You got Fallout 4 already? What is the game like, any good?

The last time I played I wanted to side with the Legion, but I didn't want to lose Boone and others who have problems with them, so I got stuck for months!

News: I downloaded the small pack of NMCs texture pack, played NV in different areas for 5 minutes and it has improved many details. It is worth the download effort. :)
I suggest someone downloads its larger packs (link in page 14).

It's a Fallout New Vegas mod, a usermade prequel. Probably the greatest New Vegas mod ever.

lupus est ****** homini, non ******, quom qualis sit non novit.

Which can extend to both genders: the Courier may not view the 'well-being' of the Mojave and New Vegas as a 'priority', and not feel too much a part of it irrespective of gender, and decide that Legio is the winning team. The benefits of Legio-control are brought up by a number of characters - even Cass, albeit grudgingly - and Caesar being a boss in his own right you already mentioned.

Further, aside from the NCR being a tad too bland I can't quite dismiss that it follows the same structure as a certain in-game government that had a decisive hand in setting the world on fire in the first place way back...if you get what I mean.

Yes that is the NCR's main issues, just like Old World US government it is heading in the same direction. Aggressive expansionism, corruption at the behest of people with money, think Crimson Caravan, the Van Graffs, Heck Gunderson, etc. I personally don't side with them, in the end I think it is best for them and the Mojave to have them kicked out, that way they'll reassess their policies.

However, when choosing between NCR and the Legion, I'll choose NCR every time, the Legion wants to imitate a failed society that died long before the US government mean, they're not any better. Ruling by force and terror has never proven itself to be effective, the problem with the Legion is that it is one man's ideas. There have been many governments that are one man's ideas and most of them fell apart when that "man" died. When Caesar dies, the Legion will see itself in a bind, maybe it will survive or maybe it won't but I think that a bunch of people are going to start fighting to take over the Legion. Caesar can only inhibit human nature, he can't eliminate it, no one can.

God dammit, thanks for reminding me that it sucks to play on consoles. <_<

I can see Seagloom`s point. They did a very poor job with Caesar. It`s really hard to support them if a big part of the population of the territory (you play in) hates you. So you will miss a lot of content because half of the side missions are NCR ones.

Yeah, sucks.

But guys, their hats. They are so fabulous! It`s totally worth it.

I don't think it was actually Obsidian's fault. They were planning to allow people to head into Legion territory, thats why you get that weird door in Hoover Dam, right at the end. The map would've been a lot bigger if they had done this. Unfortunately Bethesda's time table got in the way.

Out of all the factions I can agree that the Legion got the short end of the stick. Seriously, looking at the amount of mods that re-add cut content, they had to cut a lot of stuff. Some of those mods are also bigger than they seem. For example you'd be able to traverse through fiend territory dressed as Khan without them shooting you, you could even talk to Cook-Cook, Driver Nephi and Violet. There's a mod that restores this.

The Legion was a lot of wasted potential, but it wasn't really the writers' fault, it was development time.  You were supposed to be able to visit their civilian territories and see an orderly society, and Ulysses was meant to be a pro-Legion follower.  As it was they got redcued to the stupid-evil faction and it requires a lot of imagination to consider them anything but that.

Yep...a LOT of imagination. Far too easy to hate.

Let's see: macho, slaving dumbasses with zero vision + false sense of moral superiority + power mad = a joy to kill in their little skirts.

Yeah, a female courier...just no.

Whacking these creeps was a game highlight for me:

Best analogy subjects are 3rd Reich, cruelest Emperor of Roman Empire, Stalin's post WW2 era and Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Caesar's Legion is worst than any of them.

I wait till I get the Terrifying Presence perk before I meet the Legion.

Gets the BEST lines in the game.
You can tell Vulpes you are going to wear his head like he wears that Dog head.
You can tell Caeser you are going to paint his tent with his guts

Legion Assassin: "Dont you ever give up?"
Courier: "Not when there are spines left unshattered!"

Or the best is dealing with Benny!

"I CRAWLED OUT OF MY GRAVE TO PUT YOU IN YOURS BENNY!"

Heheheheh
Mucho lulz

^ I just got my very own checkered suit last night, as a matter of fact. I thought about getting the Terrifying Presence perk, but instead, used my feminine wiles, ala Black Widow on 'ol Benny. Didn't sleep with him, though.

It was sort of good timing, too. Being vilified by Caesar's Legion was getting ridiculous. Everywhere I went, I could expect to find their assassins. But when I walked out of the Tops with the platinum chip, all was forgiven. I sure wish I would have taken care of Nelson first. Dang it. Ah, well. I guess I'll pay Caesar a visit, then I'll return to slaughtering his peeps.

And now I'm stuck with two quests that I can't finish. The first is White Wash. Lieutenant Boyd is locked up in that glass room with a dead Legionaire, and I don't have the key. I've left, and came back, several times, and she's just stuck in there. Doesn't seem to matter what time of day. The other is Aba Daba Honeymoon. I failed the speech check when I first went into Vault 3 (to get the parts for the BoS), so when I went to talk to Motor Runner, he was hostile. Double dang it.

But alas, I'm on 360, so I guess I'm stuck with it.

Hey, can you guys refresh my memory which order to do the DLC in? I just installed them last night, and nearly barreled right into Sierra Madre, because I found the bunker on my map. Oops.

If you do all the quests that can potentially screw everything Caesar has done and meet him afterwards he gets really mad. That's what I always do, and I also always let Benny go. There is actually a mod that adds some cut content about that. Apparently if you let him go and have that mod he comes back and tries to kill you,

I prefer not using the mod and thinking that in the end Benny wasn't a snake/

I think it depends on your character.  Old World Blues has the best rewards, but is easier for a Science type character (and explosives for those &#%)!^* nighstalkers).  Honest Hearts is probably the easiest.  Dead Money was tough for my guns character but much easier for my stealth/ melee character.  Lonesome Road I don't attempt until high levels.
