When you beat the Arishok and all the nobility cheers for you, there is a scene which shows Meredith´s face up close before calling Hawke the new champion.
She DOESNT look happy. Not one bit. Im thinking she isnt happy because it was not she and her templars that saved the city from "heathens" but an outsider who may even be mage of all people. This could put the entire order in bad image. The people could start to think that they cant do their duty anymore among other things.
What do you think? Is it just me?
Meredith not happy.

About that, yes. She doesn't want any rivals, especially not with Dumar dead and complete control over the city only a hairsbreadth away.

IMHO I think deep down Meredith wanted to be the Champion of Kirkwall and she delveops an intense hatred based somewhat of her insane jealously of Hawke becoming the Champion of Kirkwall, even to the point even if you side with her and the Templars 100%. I don't she would ever let Hawke be the Viscount of Kirkwall because she has an intense hatred of Hawke of stealing what she believes is her title, the Champion of Kirkwall.

I figure she's jealous that Hawke is getting all the attention. She never struck me as someone who liked to share.
