This is an M-rated game. I don't think I need to say that the content in the game is designed for a mature audience.
Bioware doesn't get to choose their own rating, the ratings classification boards of individual countries do that, according to their own specific standards. To say that a game rating is in any way indicative of authorial intent is absurdly fallcious.
"Love" =/= "sex". A "love scene" is not the same as a "sex scene".Since Bioware already stated that this game will have love scenes, I looked back at their recento titles of Me3 and DA2, and the "sex scenes" in those games.
Let me be perfectly clear: No Dragon Age or Mass Effect game has ever shown us anything that could even be mistaken for sex, and that includes DA:O and its awkwardly long orchestrated interludes of clumsy groping.I would say Isabella had the hottest scene in DA2, but there was no nudity at all, which makes me scratch my head as why I wouldn't see nudoty with a busty pirate.
Me3 had it worse, everyone was in their clothing, except liara. I would say the most distasteful scene was traynor's shower scene. Who showers with clothes on?
Really, scenes like those are quite a waste of everyone's time and can even go as insulting the player's intelligence. I would rather have sex scenes scrapped and make whatever time/resources available to be used for something else.
Though that's not going to happen, I would like to start this discussion on whether or not sex scenes should include full/partial nudity.
Fade to black is by far the superior choice. The animators have a hard enough time crafting a convincing kiss as it is, and I have to play these games in the lounge room with my family around me. Knowing what characters look like naked doesn't add any depth to them, or progress their narratives in any meaningful way, so who cares?
