Its not so much a problem with sex scenes, but rather avoiding nudity altogether and I agree this is hardly something exclusive to bioware, although I think sometimes it is accepted so casually that it does not make sense. Why after seeing the sort of things I have seen in dragon age alone would I be worried about nudity? I see somebody who is suppose to my characters mother have her head sewn onto an abomination but the raunchiest thing I have ever seen in a Bioware game is the side of a boob.

Sure I can do without sex in my games, but I could also do without much violence either.

I am still going to argue the meaning was pretty blatant. This is a thread based on having mature sex scenes, I question in what context you think I would be mentioning the excessive violence in any other way but to compare the two?

I did not question your comparison between violence and nudity.
I just pointed out that this somewhat ilogical seperation, is something that existed before bioware "invented" it, due to various psychological issues humans tend to have.

I have no problem with the level of violence in bioware games, OR with any sort of sex scene in a game intended for a mature audience - assuming of course that it is well made, looks at least somewhat realistic, and not overly contrived.

Out of the many, many things that I care about in terms of this game...whether or not there is nudity in the game really isn't one of them and I'll never understand why it is such a point of contention. Well, okay, I KNOW why, but I really don't think it should be. That is, of course, just my opinion.

I'm fine with a simple ME1 fade to black or something tasteful like DA2. DA:O, while it had some pretty cool romances, was made veeeeeeeeery awkward with the horrible underwear wrestling scenes.

I imagine laughter was probably not quite the reaction the animation team was going for with their audience, poor dears, but that's kinda what it was. Image IPB

I didn't laugh, I was too busy praying nobody would walk into the room while that was on the screen.

Your mother walks in and sees you looking at Liara's butt.

Was talking about DA:O, Karl.  Keep up.

Fine, Shale's butt, then.

I am with Fast Jimmy on this issue. I can live without the scenes at all, but if they must exist ME1 or Dragon Age 2 is the ones I find most tolerable.

Same here. Although I generally prefer the DA2 fade-to-black, and I never want to see the DAO-style again.

I loved the DAO style, because it could be manipulated into something awesome via modding.

This is an M-rated game. I don't think I need to say that the content in the game is designed for a mature audience. Since Bioware already stated that this game will have love scenes, I looked back at their recento  titles of Me3 and DA2, and the "sex scenes" in those games.

I would say Isabella had the hottest scene in DA2, but there was no nudity at all, which makes me scratch my head as why I wouldn't see nudoty with a busty pirate.

Me3 had it worse, everyone was in their clothing, except liara. I would say the most distasteful scene was traynor's shower scene. Who showers with clothes on?

Really, scenes like those are quite a waste of everyone's time and can even go as insulting the player's intelligence. I would rather have sex scenes scrapped and make whatever time/resources available to be used for something else.

Though that's not going to happen, I would like to start this discussion on whether or not sex scenes should include full/partial nudity.

I can tell you right now the game won't have what you're asking for. Very weak chance.

Get The Witcher 3 instead, or the second one if you haven't played it. Stuff like that isn't going to happen in DA.

I just want the stupid underwear gone from those scenes. If Bioware can do that, I'm cool.

What about fully clothed scenes?
What about screen fades to black and fades back in.

Because showing lots of brutal killing is not a problem.
Showing a sex scene is too much to handle.

You haven't seen most of the threads like this then.  It often degrades to the pro nudity crowd calling the ones that don't care/want it in game prudes and such, despite many of them saying otherwise or they say "violences and stuff is ok, but nudity isn't?  Da hell is wrong with you?"

Hm.

Glad to see where peoples priorities lie for this game. Does the Love scenes truly matter? Is the point of having romance in these games is watch the romance bloom and allowing the characters emotions come into play? Or do you skip over that for the saucy bits? In all honesty if this is what romance boils down to I think it shouldn't happen at all.

Desperately trying to think of a retort. Nope.
I whole heartedly agree with this comment.

This is hard to do since you're compressing the years of character development and relationship development that long term relationships normally involve, into 10 or so hours.

This is hard but still doable. Seeing a relationship change over the course of a video game is actually one of the most facinating ideas.

It gives us and future generations a window into what we people of the present day feel is important in a relationship.
It gives us also a window into what Bioware's writing team feels is important in a relationship and also how they generally view relationships.

So if it's all about sex and nothing else, this sends the message that this is all we people of the present day care about. This poorly represents how we people of the present view relationships and it poorly represents how Bioware's writing team views relationships.

This is an area I'd like to see explored. Make the relationships meaningful, reflective of real life and the universe they're set in. Make relationships reflect the characters. Make relationships reflect us and our attitudes. Make relationships reflect the writing team. This can add a lot of immersion to the game if done right.

Sex is one aspect of a relationship. So let's not dismiss it altogether.
It is also a stressful aspect of a relationship. It puts both participants in the relationship under a lot of pressure to perform (as if they weren't under enough pressure). It can potentially be the best part of a relationship or the worst part of the relationship.

I just want more signs of affection during the whole game...at appropriate times. I would have wished that after the death of Hawke's mother his/her LI would have hugged or kissed Hawke. There were other times in the game where my Hawke would have liked to comfort her LI, but it seemed that after act 2 there was nothing much but a pat phrase from the LI. There was absolutely nothing in Act three until right before the final battle.

I guess what I'm wishing for was if you have an LI, don't limit the affection to only one part of the game.

...

I remember Anders having personal conversation in Hawke's home if romanced. (And Merrill does too).

Then of course all Li's have their act 3 quest and the dialoges related to that. And then there is the end game. The content amongst eact act is fairly equal.

We got a lot considering that romances are not the focus. Granted I am up for more companion talk in generel, including more romance, but for what bioware wants to do I just don't think we can get more than we have right now. Not unless they wants to make the romances grander in scope.

I'm not bothered by the fade to black, and I don't have any particular need to see the characters nekkid. I was fine with the DA2 sex scenes, and I liked them better than the DA:O ones which were a bit awkward. But I do agree that the underwear in the shower thing is kind of silly. If in a situation where characters should be expected to be nude, they should be nude.

They need to be a bit more graphic... like in me1. But I felt the scenes in dragon age 2 were rather tasteful, a bit to tasteful. I'm okay with fade to black scenes, I honestly don't care either way. I'd be okay with an 'in between'. That would push the M rating!

you have to understand even though it is rated M dose not mean they will add every singal adult theme ever invented by man into it, and on another note kids can still buy M rated games or borrow them from the parents so Bioware has to becareful

Eh..faux new always seems to do a piece on Bioware whenever they release a game downfall of moral fiber and all of that nonsense. It will go away rather quickly.

^this

except make MORE options and repeat options like in dao when you initiate a sex scene for the second time-  fade to black maybe a little initiation dialogue and then return to scene.

Edit-

im of the opinion either do it right or not at all.

if bioware isn't going to step up to the plate and do a me1 level erotic scene then don't do anything and just do a fade to black. I personally see zero problem with full scale nudity especially given the amount of blood and violence in games. It's ridiculous people get so up in arms about a topless chick but don't care about someone being graphically decapitated.

Im not calling for them to take out violence just stop moaning about nudity.

Fade to black is so cheesy man. No, I'd prefer ME style scenes.

Not for any particular reason other than they're cool and hot. Jesus, why does everything need to be so deep, thoughtful and 'mature' with you guys?

Can't we admit that the scenes add a certain flavour to the game that's missing otherwise?

Edit: It would be hilarious if your character was awful in bed depending on his charisma stat xD

Man, keep your HBO out of my DA:O.

My imagination can beat ANYTHING the poor devs can come up with anyway. Fade-to-black, ftw.

It's a romance/love scene, not porn. Showing of private parts is definitely not something that comes with the territory.

That said, if BioWare decides to be more graphical then it's not like I'd be angry about it. I just wouldn't consider it a step forward.
