I cant seem to get past the Bandits just outside of Lothering. I have no real problem with the town mob to the west of windmill or the bandits in the field. But when I try to fight the two mobs on either side of the North Hill I get slaughtered Odds are 6 to 4 pluss the dogs (2 & 1) Me and Allistar are lvl6 Warriors and my party members are Morrigran, Sten, Lianna and my :oDog (choice of 2). Am I not supposed to fight these Yet? Or am I to use some special tactics? I have the PC platform.

Do not fight them all at once? Either try to split them, attacking one or more of them from range, or after engaging them retreat to position advantageous for you. Look around what kind of terrain is available for an ambush, reducing number of threats, and/or breaking line of sight. Yes, you are supposed to fight them and win.

knownastherat is right.. Remember also that "raw" damage dealing in this game is not always the best way. This means that in addition to simply trying to kill opponents, you need to use crowd control (stuns, fears, and so on) on them.
So, try focusing all your damage on 1 enemy at a time (3 enemies with 5% of their health still do as damage as 3 enemies in full health!), while you incapacitate/freeze/ecc as many other opponents as possible.

Also you can hold int he far back and use Morrigan to draw them out with a staff hit. The staffs have incredible range so you can draw out the melee fighters.
There is one section that you can't do this and it's to the left when you exit the town. The section has a cutscene and cannot be triggered any other way.

The group near the river is an easy one if you know what to do. The ones at the other side can be pulled if you're coming from the side of the high road. Don't pull too much though, or otherwise you'll still find them at your neck.
Also, pull the group by the river (not by shooting, but just by walking slowly up enough till you see movement) and you'll get the Bandit Leader (which seems just too strong for an Lieutenant) plus 2 of your lackeys after you. Walk back along to river, away from them - that way you can avoid the 2-3 others coming after you. Don't walk too far though, I once found myself among the spiders with the bandits after me - that was a kinda stupid death.

Got them. No problems this time. I got the spiders earkier so had no problems pullin the river rats. Then pulled the middle bandits back to the windmill, As far as the darkspawn on the bridge. I accidentally pulled 2 of them from the bottom of the steps, then ranged the rest of them from the top step one by one without agroing the others. May have been a glich but it worked well for me. Thanks again all
