When a mod won't load because of a missing HAK file, it tells you to check the log file.
Where is the log file.
I looked in MyDocuments, MyDocuments\\NeverwinterNights2 & the main NeverwinterNights2 directory.

try the user-temp directory
C:\\Documents and Settings\\<user>\\Local Settings\\Temp\\NWN2\\LOGS
( ^ winXp )
you might have to turn it on in the .Ini first ( not sure )

Thanks for the reply kevL
I looked there & it only has two files nwclientError.txt (0kb)
& nwclientLog1.txt , which seems to be keeping track of everything I have killed, since getting the mod working.
I couldn't see anything in any of the .ini's referring to error logs.
But it doesn't matter, I knew what HAK was missing. (but it might be handy if you didn't)
I took below as meaning I only needed the leg_ai.hak & the leg_master.hak was only for builders, but you need both.
"Robinson Workshop All-In-One (A selection of Tilesets and placeable objects. As a player, you ONLY need
to place the .hak file in your hak folder. The other resources are for builders using the files.)
Legends AI (Improvements to the NWN2 AI and animations systems. As above, you only require the .hak file. Place in your hak folder.)"

yah
nwclientLog1.txt usually contains all those "PrettyDebug" messages you might see in scripts. It also has 'server' information (that might be where the missing.Hak could show..) as well as dialog lines, and you can force it to print the names of scripts that run
it's nice to know its there,
- what i was thinking of:
nwn2player.ini has under [Server Options]
Scripts Print To Log=1
Scripts Print To Screen=1
but then I believe it also has to be forced via a console command "LogRunScript" -- so it's not what i was thinking but it's really handy in a pinch, when you haven't any clue what script is screwed up
anyway, onward ho.

Just resurrecting this, as I believe the OP, olnorton, was playing my module.
olnorton - which hak/s in particular were you having probems with? (I have updated the bit about needing the two Legends haks)
I have a small group of players who are getting the "Missing hak file" error, despite having all required haks in their hak folder. Just trying to get this resolved once and for all.
The module is available in directory format; can this be a factor?

I just never installed the leg_master.hak , once I installed it, I never got the error message again.
I was more posting to find where NWN2 put the error.log (or whatever they call it)

Thanks. Just trying to find out why some players who claim to have all the haks installed are still getting this error. A head-scratcher through and through!

Sometimes people just like to confuse the issue rather than admit they just didn't follow the instructions.
I'm not saying that is what is happening here, but you do see it all the time that people would rather have a "mystery bug" than admit to a common mistake on their part.

Thats the conclusion I think im coming to. I've had several hundred downloads and you'd think i'd be getting flooded with problems. Just a couple apparently having problems.
