To the OP:

Go back and play ME2. When you get to the Praetorian fight on Horizon, this is what you do. Stick you squad in cover somewhere, like in the truck bed on the left side near the entrance. Now head over to the trucks on the left side near the control terminal and near the catwalk with the medi-gel. Now just circle around the trucks as it chases you, always keeping the trucks in between you and it. You never have to fire a single shot if you don't want to. Your team will kill it and you will never be shot.

THIS is why people are saying the ME3 Praetorian is much harder.

Also add to the fact that in me3 they are designed to come in numbers, having to fight two of the bastards in me2 would have been brutal,

you also don't get the sense of how powerful the new ones are because player characters are so much better, if me2's un-dodging, slow as **** Shepard faced off with a me3 praetorian he would be destroyed and then some, whereas new agile Shepard would race around a me2 praetorian laughing while it is helpless to defend itself, or he could just kite it ten times better,

I'm doing a second play through now with renegade FemShep :)

I've done like 5 runs.

My first run as Jason Shepard, Infiltrator
My Full paragon run as John Shepard, Soldier
My Full renegade run as Drake Shepard, Vanguard
My re-run as Darius Shepard, Infiltrator
My run as Death Shepard, Hell's Sentinel

I just started another run as Alex Shepard, Femgineer. Still working through ME1 on that one.

Huh, I'm surprised someone else went with Drake Shepard too.

Perhaps if they came in pairs or more it might have made those fights interesting. Slow assed Shepard still burns them down fast.

ME2 wasn't really all that difficult, at least to me. Hell the only "problem" area I came across was fighting the 2 YMIR's at once when shutting down a Blue Suns beacon. Even that wasn't that difficult on Insanity. Why people think ME2 was so difficult is beyond me.

Armored Husks? Armored Loki mechs? Totally nerfing an entire class of biotics? I found it difficult enough that I stick to veteran. I play game for fun, not to prove my cojones.

I still don't get it. Biotics were plenty powerful in ME2, Loki mechs were simple headshot kills and husks weren't much of a challenge either. Not trying to be a badass here, I just truly do not understand why people think this is so difficult.

Because some of us are horrible shots?

I also don't recall lasers hitting me behind cover in ME2.

No,the Mass Effect 2 one was the joke because he was really slow and also could not ignore powers like Warp...
And only the first one was a challenge while all other got cained...

I would have preferred an ME 3 Pretorian on Horizon.

I used the Cain on the one on Horizon. All it did was chew up 1/3 of its armor. I was sorely disappointed.

ME3 Praetorians are so ridiculously broken that it makes me wonder did BW just decide to say F*** you to the players when they added them. Collectors in general are super buggy and incredibly unbalanced and the Praetorians are just the icing on the cheesy cake.

I take Geth over Collectors any day of the week.

I just started another run as Alex Shepard, Femgineer. Still working through ME1 on that one.

Let's see:

First run: John Shepard, Engineer (Liara/Tali-mance)
Femshep run: Jennifer Shepard, Soldier (Liara, faithful; named after Jennifer Hale)
Renegade run: Harry Shepard, Sentinel (Miranda)
Let's Play: Yuri Shepard, Engineer (Liara/Tali; this was basically a repeat of my first run but recorded; named after Yuri Gagarin and Alan Shepard, first and second man in space)
Insanity run: Sarah Shepard, Infiltrator (Garrus)
Vanguard run: Mark Shepard, Vanguard (still playing through ME1, planning to do Ashley/Jack; first time using Sheploo; named after Mark Meer)

Only those last two were after I started playing the multiplayer. So only during those last two did I not suck tremendously.

I thought ME2 praetorians were incredibly difficult to deal with my first time through. And that was playing on Casual! I was such a scrub. Image IPB

It wasn't "difficult" per se, but it was certainly much more challenging than ME3 on Insanity, so that's probably why most people refer to ME2 as "difficult".

My modded Insanity on ME3 is probably harder than it though. :P

(Or maybe not, only so much you can do with coalsced tweaks)

ME1 on Insanity was just an endurance test, with all the enemies turning into bullet sponges. Even basic mooks take something like 20 shots with the most powerful sniper rifle in the game. Biotics are OP because lift and singularity can prevent enemies from using immunity, thus saving you roughly half an hour per fight.

ME2 on Insanity was the only difficult one, with the added protection layers on every enemy rendering any form of crowd control nearly useless. However, after the Collector ship your level kind of catches up with the game and it stops being hard.

ME3 on Insanity was a joke. Granted, I did import, so maybe it's harder if you start from level 1. But starting from 30, it was far too easy.

All of the ME games suffer from an inverted difficulty curve. The games start hard because you have no powers, long cooldowns, and horrible weapons. As you get better stuff, the enemies don't get equally more difficult. On my ME1 Insanity run I probably found Eden Prime more difficult than fighting Saren at the end (who is a joke as long as you bring biotics).

This is very true, starting at level 30 makes a big difference and I definitely feel the game was balanced around a low level character instead. I intend to do a level 1 run eventually (will still import but I'll use a save editor to bring myself back to level 1), and I still think the game will feel easy overall even with a low level character, because it just doesn't throw that many enemies at you (MP has spoiled us on that too), but I don't doubt it will at least be less of a joke in terms of difficulty.

That inverted difficulty curve thing is actually not exclusive to ME games, I kinda notice it on pretty much every game that has some sort of level up system (at least the ones I've played), they never seem to truly push the limits of the additional power you gain.

I agree.

Geth Primes, and maybe even Banshees are a lot more difficult to fight.

Praetorian? Javelin to the face = permanent stagger. Probably the most overrated enemy in the game.

So it's the most dangerous boss unless you happen to have a specific loadout. Great.

The same applies with any weapon with high sustainable dps.

Anyway even without that it isn't the most dangerous unit. It can only attack in one mode, and it is slow to transition. So long as you are fairly mobile they are not particularly dangerous even with support.

You want to talk about nerfed enemies? Play ME1 Insanity and do UNC: Missing Survey Team ASAP, and realise just how far Husks have fallen.
