Ok, so I preordered CE edition on STEAM like im sure a lot of people did, and I live in Italy. First, it said this game will unlock bla bla bla on the 26th. NOW its the 29th.

WTF

I dont know about you guys (and gals) but Ive been counting down the days and now all of a sudden I went from six days out to nine. I know its nothing that can be changed or anything but Im dying to know

WHY

So if anyone actually knows, or at least has a relatively good explanation I would love to know.

Image IPB

P.S.- I also have an american credit card does anyone know that if I make an american account tied to an american card I can preorder that way and play it on the 26th? (yes I know ill pay twice i dont give a **** lol)

The European release is the 29th hence it got moved for you. It determines location by IP thus if you can connect via a north american proxy it might work...or so I've heard. :)

It's the European release date. There you go.

It was showing wrong date only for the first day when pre-purchase started.

lol i cant believe i laughed at that considering how much im suffering cuz of this Image IPB

seriously, anybody know?

also, does anyone know WHY they have different release dates like this? One would think that releasing it after its been released in the states would motivate more people to look for those infamous day one pirate downloads, especially considering how many people are anxious for this game....

It seems that many European countries generally have release dates for video games on Fridays. But at least the Nordic countries and Germany have Thursday releases if I'm not mistaken. This is not a problem specifically related to Mass Effect, but practically every video game.

Honestly, a worldwide release date would maximize sales.

'cause EA set the release date for our region to that date. That's it.

Yes, but you can't do it with Steam unless you really wish to take a huge risk of opening your PC completely to any attack.

Do you honestly think holding back a release date for arbitrary reasons is going to help sales?

The only thing it'll help is piracy.

You can't use proxies unless you also have an American credit card.

You used to be able to fool places like Steam and Direct2Drive with proxies or using American addresses, but now they use entirely seperate billing systems for regions so if you pay with a euro credit card, you get the euro version.

actualy his right, it happen the same with DA:O and on the US release day the game was already swarming in the wrong places... movies already have a worldwide release date, dont know why games dont follow the same, it helps avoid piracy.

You're presenting as an example the biggest failure made by BioWare to date? Really?

Guys feel yourselves lucky! I live in Hungary and the distributor just moved the release date from 29th of January to 5th of February. I pre-ordered the CE of course.

ooook...to clarify (jokes or not) I have dual citizenship, an american AND a euro credit card, and Im trying to buy ME2 CE on the 26th and not the 29th. As the asnwer is probably no, I still ask everyone, is there ANY way to get the US version?? Plus to anyone who says that waiting to release doesnt increase piracy...go read the big yello book "common sense for dummies" lol

Are you stupid or just ignorant?

If it worked for MW2, why not ME2?

ME2 is the most anticipated game for this year.

I don't unterstand the delay either.

I'm from Italy too and this is just argh...especially since I will have to avoid the forums for 3 days to not read any spoilers.

I guess they have their reason, I'm no expert on marketing.
