It was a very good experience, but still. Dont want to play that again.
Is it fine to start any expansion, with a new character?

So, the basic question. Yes you can start a new game in ToB, and complete the game from there. Few people do though, for a couple of reasons. Firstly because you're kinda low level, and missing some epic gear. Secondly many people prefer the openness of SoA to the linearity of ToB, and never play ToB at all. I quite like ToB myself, but I've played SoA way more than ToB.
Also, these games are HUGE, so I'm inclined to think you weren't really half way through. Have a look at these maps, which show all the possible areas you can visit in BG2. How many had you actually been to? Had you gone to Brynnlaw yet, or the Underdark?

ToB is not quite as vast, but certainly contains enough to be called a game in it's own right, particularly as it blocks off access to all of the areas visited in SoA.

BG1 is probably even bigger than SoA, but TotSC is smaller than ToB, and simply adds four new areas to the BG1 map, so you can play them together as one game.

You may be speaking to the wrong crowd here, many of us have played the game from the start of BG1 to end of ToB more often than we're happy to admit

Where to start. Well let's get some naming standards down. The basic Baldur's gate 2 (BG2) game is called Shadows of Amn (SoA). It has ONE expansion, called Throne of Bhaal (ToB). On the same note, Baldur's gate 1 has one expansion, called Tales of the sword coast (TotSC).

Okei, thanks. No, trademeet, was the last place i think. Placed to many traps, which f@cked up the save files.
I liked that game, but doing the beginning all over again, feels more like a job. But if you are supposed to start the game with a high lvl character. Than it would be wrong to start any dlc, with a new? And i also guess, harder too follow the story?

Talking of mods, are you patched? You need the official ToB patch, second down on this page:
http://www.sorcerers.../index_misc.php
The BG2 fixpack is also widely loved by most people for fixing some game-breaking bugs, and hated by others, for the same reasons

Note official ToB patch first, then Fixpack, then DBG.
