This is was probably the worst and longest challenge for me so far.

Yeah, before I embarked on this ridiculous quest my N7 was around 400. Just from playing normally and respeccing a few classes. Then I came back to the game and saw the challenge system and the completionist in me just went all OCD.

Did anyone else besides me actually enjoy promoting? I feel it helped me get better with a lot of kits, since I used them from level 1-20 and not just at 20. Not much of a difference, but I feel it helped. Yes I understand not everyone started playing as late as I did, but I still kind of liked promotions.

Of course, now that I have my N7 banner, I've stopped promoting for a while to focus on upgrading my manifest.

I enjoy levelling characters, I enjoyed using different kits to do other challenges, but 60 was a bit too many. At some point it was just torture and I just started spending all my credits on recruit packs, getting everybody to lvl 16 and then knocking out a couple of platinums with each kit to get to 20 quick. It was a chore after 40 or so.

Fair enough. I think the major difference between us is, I didn't specifically go for N7 mastery, I just played the game like I normally would and promoted when it was feasible. Took me about 3 months to get it, but I got it eventually and I didn't find it painful like most people did.

I feel that just leaving kits at level 20 is a waste, I promote for the fun, and it gives me another goal beyond a maxed manifest

I see your point. My thing is that I played the game A LOT before the challenge system was implemented and I had figured out the builds/kits exactly how I wanted to play them, with the occasional respec for variety. The best way to do it is just how you did it though.

Yeah, that's the problem with others who played the game a lot earlier than I did, I've heard other long-time players say the same thing as you. I started playing only 4-5 months ago so I learned all the kits I was interested in by promoting and playing them through 1-20.

I agree with this, I'm still going to continue promoting just because I like to restart from level 1 once in a while, plus it gives my consumables a break to play silver for a bit.

I promote. Most of my friends are most comfortable at bronze/silver so level 20 super-optimised characters aren't necessary. I often find that if I start playing a kit at level 8 or so then by the time I play a match with them at level 20 it's time to move on so promoting and picking another kit doesn't bother me. According to N7HQ I'm 27/60 promotions through my second N7 mastery.

I do tend to leave at least one kit at level 20 for when I do play a gold game though.

N7 Mastery takes me 3 to 5 days, I've completed it 47 times. It's the best, easiest and quickest challenge in the game. You just have to know what you're doing, there are a couple of tricks that can speed up the process. The best part is, you don't have to do anything special for it. Just play the game like you normally would. There are no character, weapon, map or enemy restrictions when it comes to N7 Mastery, unlike nearly all the other challenges.

... except playing the game as I normally would doesn't involve promoting ... ever (at least not since Respec cards were moved into the uncommon pool).

N7 Mastery ... most tedious challenge ever *shrugs*

Promoting definitely makes you better with various kits. It kind of forces you to play faster and smarter since your powers and weapons aren't as strong.

That said it's annoying when you just want to play a high difficulty with a certain character and it's not viable because of recent promotion. Getting to level 20 can take quite a bit of time without the help of lots of credits

Would you care to mention any of these tricks? I don't really know how many hours a day you can play, but I normally don't have much time.

This is how I went about it:
1) Promote all the characters that are lvl 20;
2) Buy Recruit Packs until all characters are around lvl 16;
3) Play Platinum with each class to level them up to 20;
4) Promote. Rinse, repeat.

When I am around lvl 16, it will normally take me 2-3 Platinum games to get to lvl 20. Each platinum game takes about 20mins, which means I can promote 1 character every hour (give or take 15 mins). Since I don't get to play more than 2 hours per day, this means I was able to promote 2 characters per day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

As you can see, there is no way that I could have done it in 5 days, given my time restraints and methods. If there are faster/better ways, I'd be curious to hear about them though.

They really should have credited for previous promotions considering how they'd already tracked them on a per-class basis. At worst, confirm N7 >= 60*30+120 = 1920.

That's exactly what I do as well, just like you outlined, I buy packs until everything is at level 17 or 18 roughly. But it would take much longer if you only play 2 hours a day, that's for sure.

Yep, I am missing combat mastery, commando mastery, and outsider mastery.
Any tips on how to get more grabs? If they counted all the grabs I got on FBWGG before the challenge system was implemented, I would have like 2 million. :D

Oh my goodness...grabs...I just can't understand how someone can get 250 grabs playing normally.

I have a top tip on how to get all the grabs you need relatively quickly. I found a video on here a few months ago and it provided an excellent strategy (sadly I don't have the link, but it's on here somewhere). What you do is start a Gold game on White versus Reapers. It's good to use a tanky character. You run straight for the very back of the map where the furthest ammo box is located. There's a small barrier, you can take cover behind it. Husks will keep coming to you one after the other (cannibals and marauders won't move around so much). When the wave budget is depleted, grab the remaining cannibals and marauders. So you just keep grabbing husks on wave 1. It takes me roughly 6 minutes to get 30-40 grabs on wave 1, then I just bleed out at the start of wave 2 and repeat the process. Really quick and simple. I find this to be the best method. If you get overrun (which you will), simply move away and then come back. All you have to do is take cover behind that barrier and the husks will just keep on coming and coming.

Commando Mastery was one of the very last challenges for me as well.

Sorry for the long post...I'm sure this could have been condensed to 1 or 2 lines.

Might start your matches solo and play hazard maps (more XP on these). I do this to take a LVL1 up by 8-9 in one game (that is the easy gain). After that move to gold and plat depending on equipment. This also got me to move from a support style of play to more active.
