I actually use the Tempest on TSol when I play on my friend's account (who hasn't unlocked very much). Even on Gold I love it.

I always liked the Phalanx. Not a huge fan of the firing sound, but functionally, it feels very solid. It's like Mass Effect's H&K USP 45.

The Phalanx was my go-to caster weapon for gold before the Hurricane and Acolyte came along.

It weighs very little so I chuck it on my Striker/Carnage Fire Explosion build Kroldier ... just for Guardians. S'alright for what it is... lightweight sidearm, accurate enough to mailslot Guardians and headshot anything else, does a acceptable amount of damage. *shrugs*

I've used it on my Shadow as a backup to the Wraith when I was collecting Gold waves for the Map Mastery. It was useful for damaging enemies at long range when I didn't want to shadow strike into some areas.

Not a LOT of damage, but it adds up, it's nice and light and doesn't suffer from pellet spread at long range.

Only half the time.  The other half was spent running from the two Banshees permanently aftached to my rear so I just picked up the ammo as I ran past the ammo boxes.

I have found it with the heavy barrel to be a faster firing version of the Carnifex.

Also if your finger can handle it the Predator firing at max fire rate does more DPS, but good luck keeping that up all game...

That's why you get a gaming mouse, macro it.  The Predator is significantly less accurate than the Phalanx though, and a high firing rate makes it even worse.  Consistant headshots = much bigger DPS, that's why the Locust can outscore the Tempest.  The Phalanx has a more reliable DPS than the Predator, and a higher DPS than the Paladin and the Carnifex.
