Is there a difference? Maybe a thin line between the 2?

Is it possible to post a solo/score/time etc.. thread for recognition without it being epeen or is it all the same?

All in the community's perception of the person posting the thread, the content of the thread, and the tone.

Tone and general attitude of the player on the forum will go a long, long way. Given the general tone and attitude of people on this forum, I will think it's an e-peen thread 9/10.

Don't let a bunch of imaginary/virtual people dictate to you what you can and can't post. There is no such thing as E-peen (unless someone very clearly states that they're better at the game, or that their score reflects their superiority, or anything along those lines). It's just a game, but people on here take it way too seriously. As long as it's civil and related to Mass Effect multiplayer, anything goes.

ANDYHUGFAN: Good point Cain. You and INVADERONE have both done amazing solos, and you don't get enough credit for them. They just call you out for e-peen.

Why don't you stop quoting other bsners on my threads for once and respond with your own words

It's all in the presentation. Also if you act like an ass most of the time, people are less likely to be kind to you.

The problem here is that you're treating this forum as if it's real life. How exactly can you act like an ass when all you can do is write a bunch of words on an online forum? How can people be kind/unkind towards you via this electronic medium of interaction? There's a clear distinction here which I think you have missed.

No, the problem is that some people don't treat this like real life.

Don't dismiss logical responses by being delusional.

Actually, keep going. You're proving his point.

Make up your mind. Should you be civil or does it not matter? Because you're saying both, and that within the same thread no less.

And on-topic, I think the difference is in the connotation of the post.

People don't like Aholes in general. Especially ones that like to play the victim after they've chit the nest.

I really think this explains pretty much everything. You're a solipsist.

There will always be a crossover with regards to things like this. When a solo is posted it has a sense of "look at what I did" no matter how it is presented.

That being said, posting scoreboards is definitely much further into the e-peen territory.

Probably the least of these would be something in regards to guides or examples of unique ways to play the game.

Pretty much.

If you want the recognition you have to be ready for the criticism as well.

If you solo platinum I feel you should be proud and post about it, it's a great accomplishment as far as the game is concerned. Scorecard postings I find to be distasteful because they are usually at the expense of others.

I disagree. Most of the time, people will conceal the name tags of the other players when posting scorecards. What's so distasteful about wanting to share an unusually high score? I don't see how that's different to posting about a platinum solo. Both are equally uncommon 'accomplishments', but you treat them as if they're completely dissimilar.

I agree with this post.  I treat others the same over the internet as I would IRL.  In the end, this is real life regardless of where you're sitting.

The creation of a thread IS the line. If you feel the need to make a thread, you're making an epeen thread. If, however, you bring your scores up into an appropriate conversation, it's just recognition.

Edit: Aslo, a thread dedicated to scores would be appropriate, just not a thread dedicated to one score by one person. If you were looking for ways to increase your score, and it wasn't just to brag about the score you have now, that too would be acceptable.

Obvious troll is obvious. Though I do believe you've decended below the point of no return. The only thing worse than a troll is a troll that actually believes what they're saying.
