If you were immune to damage, had an unlimited amount of cain mines, had the enemies lined up perfectly in a bunch right in front of you and they were all just sitting there not moving at all...then yes, cain mine spamming would be very easy in that situation.

But he's a squishy character. His cain mines don't kill instantly like missiles do, you have to sit there for a few seconds spamming them hoping you don't get downed. Map dependent. You have to run around to find the spawns quickly before the enemies disperse. You have to manage your grenades well (running to ammo boxes, waiting for your grenades to regenerate, knowing when to use thermal clips, etc). You have to know when to hold back and use your weapon.

So saying something like 'Spamming cain mines is easy and cheesy, all you have to do is just sit there and spam them and voila, you can outscore anyone" is completely ridiculous. It's nowhere near as easy or as mindless as you make it out to be, not even close. It's simply the case that there are some very good players out there who have mastered the talon mercenary. I've played with a few bad Talon mercenaries, but I've also played with the 2 best Talon mercs.

Seeking recognition is in essence trying to validate your ego. E-peen is just how big your internet ego is

I see very little practical difference.

I agree with your point to a degree but sometimes you have to prove you're a decent player for you ideas/builds to warrant merit amongst the community.

That's a refelection of the community.

That's true.

I can't wait for the new capture abilities on the new console. That should take this to a whole new level.

Scoreboard pics are no proof whatsoever and neither are simply claiming that you're good nor whinning about pugs.

Lol. You do realise who promoted spamming Cain mines and wrote the earliest guide on this forum promoting the Talon Merc when everyone thought he was trash? You could also look in Vader's HOF Plat solo thread and see one of the few players to solo Plat with the Merc. But of course I have no idea WTF I'm talking about.

There does seem to be a thin line. I think it is whether the poster conveys the attitude that their achievements mean more than the fact they achieved something in a video game. A little bit of pride is ok but just realise in the greater scheme of things it wasn't really that important. Bragging at the expense of others is a surefire way of conveying that attitude (unless it is friendly smacktalk).

I have no idea why I keep coming back to BSN. It's like sticking your penis in a light socket.

Yet everyday I come back and there's that damn light socket.

All in the community's perception of the person posting the thread, the content of the thread, and the tone.

Pretty much. Some people will always get some negative responses because of their actions in the past regardless of how harmless their thread is.

I blame the light socket. I mean look at the way it's dressed, it's practically asking for it.

If the person responding has equalled or beaten you, its recognition. If the person is worse than you or cannot do what you have done, its an epeen thread.

What exactly is "e-peen"?

Electronic penis - Intenet ego

oh ok, thank you.

"e-******" would be the terminology for a chick
"e-peen" would be the terminology for a guy

Umm, excuse me, but it's actually e-boob. Duh.

No one wants their ping pong parlor to get bigger. Well, I guess if you're giving birth that'd probably be something you wouldn't turn down, but really you can only spend so much of your time giving birth.
