After posting on bsn about being ashamed of my scrubbery i got many friend requests from great players that were willing to help me l2p. After some extremely educational duos and many exciting team games my play had improved dramatically. I still haven't l2p but recently achieved botb and can hold my own in plat, and i owe it all to bsn <3

I watched some of Xcal's vids, and decided to take the "super squishy" Drell Adept into a gold game (back then I played like 90/10 - silver/gold) so it was kinda hardcore for me. Good thing I had Grenade Capacity 5.

When I realized completion of Gold is something I could do without problems. It took me somewhere around 2-3 weeks from Mass Effect 3 launch.

I still haven't l2p. I have had a lot of fun with friends and pugs who carried my scrubbiness through gold and plat, though. Then, I pretty much retired from all that madness. It's all downhill from BotB.

I'm still a scrub! Seriously though, I ask the dumbest questions or post the dumbest builds sometimes (GPSMG with Stability Mod on TSol LOLOL) It took me a long time to move up to Gold, finally grew a quad when I realized that I was completing Silver with 0 equipment other than gear and getting top score about 9/10 times. Still working on Plat and I'm still scared ****less of solos, but I'm getting there.

I am not so good now, but scoring ok. And the turning point was finishing levelling everything but the UR weapons and beginning to have all that level IV for lazy equipment ! :)

Soloing a lot was the best way for me to develop.

When I started to pug gold in the beginning of the mp.

Doing this you get a wide range of experiences, from great teams to what effectively are solo runs with some decoys for the enemies to chase each round.

First step was moving away from FBWGG, the second and most important step was meeting Leland, Kalas and Zyzimorph.

Marlee53 getting me to play gold (and plat when it was added), Alliance Hazard Force and meeting Smoothie and Knocking. And I guess moving to Xbox and meeting Max and some other Spectre scrubs.

When I got above average was when I made my first U/U/P thread and met Kalas, Reefa, Max, and the gang. Just playing U/U/P constantly helped me get there.

I don't think I've had a turning point. It's been a long slow crawl from being terrible to being passable.

Actually yesterday I felt like I've L2P play. Played 2 U/U/P with Krogan Warlord and didn't get syncked in either of those games.

I soloed platinum and I still feel like I'm lousy at this game...

Then again...could just be pugging+lousy internet+off-host+I soloed with a vanguard >.<

Though...I'm pretty sure soloing is easier than pugging...

When I stopped using shield booster on everything and started respecing my characters to be without full fitness, I knew I probably finally learned to play:)

I think, like most here, was when I linked up with a good group of people willing to share information and try new things. I think playing with Mega, Biggs, Dinkles, GTIAndy, LEG, NT, BP, Slojack, etc. made a difference.

Playing the game from demo also helped.

And, of course, posts on BSN from the like of Cyonan, etc.

I guess it happened in stages - and still is happening.

Little to no fitness on classes - crazy fun builds. Play a GI well enough to never get dropped.
Ability to solo. Some classes are still nasty hard for me to do solos with - like Volus and Fury
Ability to pug with said characters effectively. Do not pug it unless you can carry it. Pugs can make life very good, and very difficult. Trying to be hero can get you killed, and so can relying on anyone.

When I started playing with BSNers back in March of this year.  I had put in tons of hours, already ground through BoB banner, but had no real understanding of the game.  I could play Gold pretty well (maybe carry a PUG game if I had one other good player with me) but not Plat unless it was camping silliness.

I lurked here for ages, but finally started jumping in on those "looking for other player" threads.  Met some amazingly great players, who were even more awesome people, and they taught me a thing or two whilst having a really great time.

So I will say I've learned to play.  I don't ever see myself taking my game up to the level at which many of them play, but I can carry a gold PUG by myself now, and plat doesn't scare me anymore.

I love you guys!  Image IPB

I learned a lot from the early days farming maps like Dagger, FBW, etc with a team of good players and friends(EliteDanneh, JamalDobry, SSGOrbino, MassShuft). My perception on how to aggressive versus defensive play changed when I started playing with UhCold; I learned to control the spawns and destroy the spawns fast. Then I worked some with some people from Arelex which taught me a bit more on spawning for certain maps, how the spawns work, LOS and proximity spawn blocking, etc. Pretty much everything else is polishing up individual character builds with my current team of friends who know who they are.

I was forged in the PuG wastelands, didn't have a FL, and was only able to start extracting on Gold when I was able to do most of the work myself.

So when I eventually found BSN (last winter) and lurked for a month or so, appearing only to check the balance changes. There was nothing for me to learn other than the odd bugged evo and such.
Even so, I eventually got sucked into BSN, started to build a FL, met some great people/players who pushed me to become better ( I had to if I wanted to kill anything ).

Long story short, I learned alone, with pugs, without BSN.
