Turning point for me was watching jumpin/invaderone vids. Made me realize my builds and weapon mods were absolutely horrible; I was going for damage levels when radius or debuff was super obvious, not using armor piercing mods etc.

Back then I needed to use all my consumables just to get through a bronze solo (lol) and now I'm pretty close to soloing platinum

Leaned to be a more effective player when I met Leland, Phantom, and Kalas on a random match early last year. I was pretty good up until till that time but they taught me the finer points of the game as well as many of the mechanics of the game I wasn't aware of. And I made good friends with them and many others along the way such as Zyzi, and Obsessive good times my friends good times.

Watched several Character guides by Stardusk, they´re really helpful.
Private lessons with The Autumn aka TheAwesome -- thanks man, learned some very good stuff there:wizard:

However I´m not sure if I´ve really l2p yet:whistle:

2 points.

1. When I joined the AHF. Dropped the kroguard and started using other characters on Gold.
2. When I moved to PC. Pugging all the time (after spending some time with the Legion) with characters I would never have used on the PS3.

Granted I'm not super l33t but those two points were the biggest turning points for me.

Well I did give you very few lessons in fact. I wish I'd give you more, but I'm reluctant to be on people's back and tell them how to play and how they should enjoy their games, that can be perceived as very annoying.

You soloed platinum; that shows a great deal about your skills at this game ;)

Before I got ME3 back in February, I watched pretty much every video that xCal put up of ME3, so I like to think that I came in quite prepared. But I still didn't know most things like "X power is bugged" or how BioSplosions worked, or just the small things that we here take for granted that the average player does not know.

That didn't change until I met people from here. I PUG'd into ToLazy4Name one day (while he was still credible; for the most part), and he admittedly taught me a lot about the game that I didn't know. And from him, I met more and more people from BSN like FinnClan and Pint. Playing with these guys honestly made me a better player and taught me how to play a lot more effectively.

From there, I blossomed as my own player and made a lot of new friends here whom I learned from while they learned from me, like Limbs, or FatherOfPearl, ScotchEgg, or Malachi. I was able to blossom as a player because of the people I met here. Sure, maybe not much happens on the forums, but the magic happens out in the game.

I watched a number of guides, Stardusk and Invaderone mainly. I got lucky in hooking up with some very good players as I moved into Gold but still PUGed as well.

Ten months on I'm much better than I was but still need to improve.

Autumn get on my back and make me better! I enjoy the game regardless and the tutorials you and Deerber did for me were fun.

Exactly this.
I can understand, just running behind one person and say "do this, do that" frankly doesn´t sound like much fun (at least for the most peopple), that makes it even more appreciated you putting effort in teaching us effective gameplay.

I actually can do that without problems. I have played this game for what seems so long that I can "skip" a game or two for that, and it would be my pleasure to help someone. I usually don't do that because I guess it would be perceived as... I don't know, bad, pretentious, and whatever. But if you guys want me to, no problem :)

It probably would be if it were unasked but as we're asking B) just need to find a day where your mic wants to play:unsure:

...When I got halfway decent at backpeddling/rapid-firing at the head without backing into obstacles and getting stuck! also when I stopped speccing fitness ..... It' kind of like what the City Guards in Skyrim always seem to blurt out..."the best defense in a good offense, .....am I riiiiiight"

I'm too lazy to l2p. Instead, I learned about all game glitches and crutches. That was my turning point :D
