First of all, it's not going to happen in the first place.
Second of all, the game is not called Mass Effect because of the mass effect. It's called Mass Effect because of the mass effect Shepard's actions have on the galaxy.

And there's no plot, only character intrigue that you can do whatever you want with and sex-scenes everywhere.

Sounds like Mass Effect 2, to be honest.

The title "Mass Effect" refers to the mass effect fields (duh) which make magic possible, and not a reference to Shepard. As long as the same fictional rules of physics still apply it would make a certain amount of have "Mass Effect" in the title of whatever game they are working on.Second of all, I wonder what these hints imply. Will the title be changed to reflect that this is not about Shepard?
I'm guessing that it will be a rebranding exercise similar to Call of Duty -> Call of Duty: Modern Warfare -> Modern Warfare 2 (which didn't work but that never stopped anyone in the games industry)

Good. It's a sign that they aren't considering a direct sequel from Mass Effect 3, which would be doomed to failure.
I believe that the best way to go would be an alternate universe, a total reboot, a reboot remaking Mass Effect 1, or at least a partial reboot with a lot of retconning (especially of the events of the third game).
But even this small hint that they are not continuing from Mass Effect 3 is good news to me.
