So I've always been kind of at a loss for a way to use this guy in a unique way that I like until last night. I've played around with some different builds with the Venom using the net and shockwave which were fun but I still found them underwhelming. So I built this abomination which uses Batarian Passives and the Thermal Clip Storage to give a generous 191 rounds to the Harrier. With 2550 in shields and 40% DR, he can withstand a grenade without giving a damn, two volleys of Praetorian eye lazers without a scratch. He is essentially a Juggernaut with more mobility. Blade armor also doesn't give a damn about Marauder elbows or collector melee, you can essentially run into their face and force their melee which will stun them then shoot them dead. Sub net fills in the blanks for CC, phantom management, and is a nice reload cancel as well as supplementary damage. Getting used to how to net enemies is something that comes with practice and time. Putting it on the ground at phantoms feet or forcing them into flipping with gunfire then netting is the easiest strat with them.

Editted: Upon consideration the +8% damage and increased thermal clips is a better damage boosting package. I amended the build to reflect that. You get thirty less rounds in the harrier total but have bonus damage and the ability to really beef up the damage by thermal clipping against something nasty.

Most effective way to play him for sure... Also the most boring way to play him.

That's a tank of a build, but I can't skip putting 3 points in Shockwave. It's too good at detonating tech bursts from the submission net, so I typically skip the last evo in blade armor.

Eh, you can still punch netted stuff in the grill which is pretty fun. Falcon punch and harrier are alright for a while. I find him to be a less boring turtle than the Juggy.

Not needed honestily on this one. Sure it triggers combo explosions, etc. but everything dies so quickly in focused fire from the Carrier that there is no need for it.

It's a good build, I cut my teeth in Platinum with a similar build, however I hate the Harrier. And I enjoy Shockwave's disruptive power, more than anything. (I'm sorry, were you playing a Sniper?)

Lol @ tech bursts from Subnet/Shockwave combo. That might be the slowest, lamest, weakest power combo in the game. Much more efficient to just blow heads off.

Have you tried something like this?

You cannot hatesurf without shockwave :?

Only acceptable way to play him without shockwave is to equip him with a kishock harpoon gun, and name him Ahab (bonus points if you put explosive ammo on him)

I might have to try that. I just usually skip the net, max shockwave and keep a cone of shockwaves in front of me staggering away as I pop all the heads w/ a saber, setting of ammo FEs and others tech/biotics all while hatesurfing anything in melee range.

Prefer the BatSol to the BatSent...

I shy away from characters that have a "most effective and most boring" play method.

Still, I'll try this.

Just imagine you're this guy with a Harrier and a crapload of ammo, whose also really 'more tankier' than most other guys. Occasionally, you trap a dude in a net and shoot his head off easier.. that's pretty much it.

This was exactly how I used to build him a long time ago (except I added a little more melee damage), but it was before I even had the Harrier. Then I fell in love with Stardusk's Fire Explosion machine build, and I've been using that ever since.

Still, this is a really fun build.

I generally prefer to only run 3 in Net on the two characters that have it.

Shockwave is actually not a bad way to play him and is fairly effective for combo spam. Of course that has its own headaches regarding shockwave hit detection and unit limit, but it still works pretty well if you want to light a couple targets on fire then detonate them both.

The double Harrier ammo is pretty cool though.
