The beauty of mods, creating and expanding options for more players. ;)

@Verly - there are other Thane fans that have play throughs where Thane's death (and whatever Sheps outcome was), seemed fitting for them. And for replaying your Penny Shep's play through, I can completely understand why you would just want the dialogue improvements (and I would also recommend the Cabin photo mod, based on Mimitochan's awesome mod). This was one of the main reasons we wanted much of the ThaneMOD to be optional. That way people can really fit it to their wants/needs. And as @giftfish pointed out, the ThaneMOD is meant to work with your choice of ending, whether EC or Mr.Fob's MEHEM. So, once you are ready to tackle some new Thanemancers, you can do so with the Core MOD and EC ending.

Sorry that you had such a tough time. I suspect our own fanbase didn't make things any easier. We were a morose bunch, myself included.

nah, with our own fanbase I was just mainly sad that so many people were so sad. Nothing I could say helped, and I didn't want anyone annoyed at me for not being upset enough. it's not like I *wanted* Thane to die. If Bioware did their job and let him live I would have been thrilled. :) I just gave up that fight when the game came out. (I just never believed that Bioware would change their minds) With Penny, Kaidan was dead (so I, thankfully, got to avoid Bioware pushing that romance and all the others are easily avoidable), so it worked for me that Thane was her only love. With Thane, leagen and Mortin sacrificing themselves for others, I thought it was fitting that Penny did the same.

By the time you guys started working on this mod Penny's ending was canon for me so it would feel wrong to change it now. :)

hugs all around. You guys are all awesome. :)  I'll stop blabbing and let you guys get back to work on this cool mod. :D

@Verly --

Come blab away on our forum any time :) I couldn't stomach what BW did in ME3 (with many things, including Thane), but I don't disparage anyone else for a difference in opinion. Again, the beauty of an RPG!

First off, I wanted to thank all the wonderful people who worked so hard to make this possible. You're amazing! :)

I watched silently as this project progressed and I'm glad to see the mod is going to be released soon. Maybe some of you still remember me - I used to visit Thane threads regularly. At some point I had to stop, I think that Citadel DLC was the final reason - the dissapointment when I saw fan service all around, yet Thane fans could watch only more painful moments... This, and complete lack of time (I have finally finished writing my master thesis only a few days ago).

With this mod, some parts of ME3 will finally make sense, but I fear that for me, it's still not enough. Why? Let's see:
EDI' s new form, sidelined ME2 characters, events from Arrival making no sense ( if the Reapers were so close, why didin't  the relay's explosion destroy them?), the whole Crucible plot, and some more... ME3 doesn't fit with the rest of the trilogy and I am simply having a hard time considering it canon.  As a result, I go with the indoctrination  theory and ME3' s events are all happening in Shepard's mind - when she wakes up - soon after much changed events of Arrival - the true fight begins... no star child, no super weapon, no imprisonment on Earth - and almost full ME2 squad on board.

On the other hand, ME3 is a really good game full of powerful moments, great scenes and touching moments (I consider all BioWare games better than any others), and I really tried to like it.  This mod is something that may change a lot. Maybe, one day, I will run the game with Thane mod and finally feel that this is it - the great finale of my Shepard's story.  The way it should have been...

Once again, thank you very much. I never intended to hate this game and thanks to this mod maybe I won't have to anymore. =]

One question: is the credits' song changed with this mod? I couldn't find anything so I guess the idea was dropped, but are there any plans for future versions of the mod? (I'm talking here about M4 part II - very fitting and somehow connecting the game more with the rest of the trilogy).

Nope, the idea was not dropped, and we are changing it to exactly that :)  It's very appropriate for a romanced Thane, besides giving every player the feeling of "coming full circle" from ME1 to ME3.

And, I feel much the same you do Vlk3, about the rest of ME3. If we could "fix" all of it, we would. Unfortunately, we can't--I try to remedy some of that by not playing Arrival, but the beginning still sucks, impo. However, when it comes to Thane, we can "fix" this one part, the best that we can, anyway. For those of us who wanted to see his story follow a different path, playing with the mod serves for a much more satisfying conclusion, which makes the rest of ME3...a tiny bit more tolerable, lol.

BTW, Vlk3, are you signed up on the old/new forum? I thought you were -- there's a user there with a similar name. If not, then please, join us :)

--Need info on ME3 localizations--

As discussed on the website, ThaneMOD will only work as an English localization. For many players in other countries this works fine, as all their edition of the game does is add native language subtitles, and they often have the ability to control those. In these cases, this means that the game still uses the English versions of the files that we modify for the emails, war assets, codex, and Huerta dialogue.

But, it seems that some editions in certain countries (Italy, for example), don't do this. In this case, the game uses all of the Italian localization files, which are not the ones we edit. For these players, apparently switching the game language in Origin also doesn't work, as it doesn't force the game to use the English language files.

We need to find out if these players have some way to access the English localization, and whether this access could depend on the version of the game they have (digital, physical)?

For example, will reinstalling and selecting "English" remedy this problem? Is it even possible for these users to select for an install not in their native language?

Any information players can provide is appreciated.

Thanks!

That's great:) I'm now even more eager to try this mod :)

And I think that 'tolerable' is a good word here. A lot of things didn't really bother me, until I found out that there's nothing I can do to save Thane. There were things that didn't make sense in the whole trilogy, but they were always something that could be ignored, because interactions between characters were so much satisfying that it no longer mattered.

Also, yes, I'm registered on both forums, only didn't really have a time to write on them.
I visited the old forum not so long ago, only to read about 'wonderful' news about the new comic featuring Thane. And here I thought it couldn't get any worse...

Will Thane be a character who can join your squad?

Unfortunately not. There's simply no way to do that with current modding tools. The logistical challenge would quite literally be insurmountable, as none of the game files for the many missions recognize him as a squadmate. He also would have no dialogue, and I'm really not sure how animations would even be handled.

Just out of curiousity - obviously adding Thane to the Normandy, squad during in-game missions, etc, is an imposiblity with how the game currently exists and is coded, but....... hypothetically, how possible would it be to add the character to the Armax Arsenal arena roster in the Citadel DLC?

I would think that would at least be a bit more feasible and, based on some of the info listed in the game's coalesced, there appeared to be some sort of specs for Thane as a squadmate in the game like weapon and power loadout (unless that was just leftover data that somehow got included from ME2 into ME3).

@AVPen --

Adding him to the roster itself is sketchy due to the new email lore, since the player has significant flexibility as to when they can access it timeline-wise

This has been suggested twice, though (you'll see if you register on our forum), and we might have found a way around it. Don't want to give *too* much away :)

If we do pursue it, it will be for v1.1 or v2.0. Probably v2.0 with any other Citadel DLC content.

FYI --

Fob has the epilogue edits done and we'll be testing our final testbuild next week. I'm in the process of getting it together now.

Once that's finished we're still trying to wrap up a few issues with the LI-Huerta Dialogue, and we'll be working on the installer in the meantime.

We're getting very close now :)

EDIT:  Forgot to mention that Fob was also nice enough to quick whip up a file to make ThaneMOD war assets compatible with Leviathan. That means we now have full DLC compatibility. Very nice.

I'm Italian and I'd be happy to help. I have a physical copy of ME3 and I was able to install the English version, but it can't be done with the trilogy version (if bought from a local retailer obv).

Thanks for the input, zuck :)

So, will the Trilogy edition only install the native language version? Is that what you mean?

But once you installed the Trilogy version you should have ME3 registered on Origin, right? At that point, you can just download it and that should let you install whichever language you like. You just can't install other languages from you physical copy but through Origin it should be no problem.
Or did they actually actively block other languages in Origin for owners of the Trilogy edition? I don't own the Trilogy version, so I don't know but I can't imagine that.

Nope. I tried downloading it from Origin but I wasn't given the chance to choose the language. Origin just downloads the same version you own, which in my case has no multilanguage option.
Luckily I have non-trilogy ME3 but I'm still pissed off because ME2 translation is just plain terrible :bandit:

If I remember corectly, you need to switch origin itself to english and then it will install all you games in english. (atleast this worked for me)

I'll try that! thanks :wizard:

EDIT: it totally worked for ME1. I'll re-download ME2 soon. You're my hero!
