It looks to me like he suffocated unconscious, Erezike. He's falling motionlessly and silently towards the planet.

i think he just found the biggest leak and was holding it tight until the suit self repair kicked in motion. it would take a few minutes more before someone in exellent shape like shepard would die due to lack of oxygen.
and the leak also takes time, shepard didnt lose all of the oxyegen right away. if that was the case we would see no leak a few seconds after

Um... how does weight change the velocity at which he impacts the planet, again?
If he's heavier, the atmosphere will have more trouble slowing him down, not less.

Futuristic lightweight self-sealing composites. Duh! This stuff can stop rockets, and the weight is negligable. Didn't you learn anything playing the game?

Shepard weighs less wearing armor than without.

Funny thing in mass effect, thats actually the case. but thats what we agreed on we first signed into mass effect. we agreed on the mass effect fields magic.

The leak was in the back of the suit, and you can hear the breathing dying out.

two holes in the back, one in the front.  maybe shepard was taking a smaller gasps of air, i dont know, but its hardly what the debate is about. we all know shepard died in the end

Whats for debate is what was needed for the body to end up as meat and tubes and not frozen mush.

I want ot add one more thing to the debate here which is important for comparasion.  metors enters can get up to a speed of 48 km an hour. while super sonic speed on a normal location on earth is 350 meters or more.

Meat and tubes has a better, more gory ring to it. That's probably the only reason it's described as such.

Stop using your heads and use your hearts. It's poetry!

What's the problem with putting together frozen mush back into a human being? More importantly, whether it's meat and tubes or frozen mush, a brain dead brain is... well... dead?

I think you're taking away the emotional aspect now by suggesting what we saw wasn't Shepard dying from asphyxiation.

This thread is hotter than Shepard's internal temperature.

i didnt say shepard didnt die out of asphyxiation. i dont know what shepard cause of death was. i am saying it didnt look like shepard died out of asphyxiation 27 seconds of the explosion.

I agree that brain dead is brain dead. but before we go there we need to get shepard velocity out of the way.
The all brain dead is a matter of suspension of disbelief. i cant really be of any help there.  the scientists of 2183 might argue thats easier to restore frozen brain back to work that it is a brain mush back to work.

Listen Erez, does what you know matter as much as what you feel?

Does the heart follows the mind or does the mind follows the heart? i would like to believe its a two way street.

They're one and the same.
For the purpose of this event, we saw Shepard silently and gracefully die, be recovered by a vicious, scheming overlord and returned back by a close friend who couldn't let him go to a woman who wouldn't let Shepard die because of her pride. Put your mind to work on figuring out what all of that is trying to say about people, living and dying, and you shall find a truth that only you can own.

For all we know there were invisible angels that came and made Shepard's journey to the surface gentle. Because.....

The Lazarus Project:

"Now I know what it's like to be god!"

And thus Shepard becomes the son of god.

It's all in the symbolism. Hence we get "The Shepard" at the end. Don't you see? Don't you understand, Rasofe? It doesn't matter! It's all about space magic!

You would be very, very wrong in thinking that allusions to Christ are someone uncommon in fiction, Julia.

If I reply to either of you, am I going to see anything original in response?

And we did get our biblical reference to the gospel of Mark for Legion. The allusion to Christ for The Shepard was so obvious it hit you in the face in the ending with the sacrifice for the galaxy.

I don't have my notepad available, but beings of light being from ME1, I doubt they're on Alchera. But that reminds me. If those things are Leviathans, MEU is in deep crap.

They're not Leviathans. They're something else.

The Biblical references are overdone, but they do exist.

Shepard carries nuclear weapons on his back, for crissakes.

Literally. For Christ's sake. If I cared enough, I'd say it's blasphemous.

And you wanted the thread closed. See, everything is going fine.

This thread ran its course a long time ago. Now it's on life support, just pull the ****ing plug already. =]

No, we can't. It may be residing outside of the body. =]

Ofcourse, silly me. This thread has reached ascension.  To stay OT, shepard is shown starting to burn up in the atmosphere, not to mention the 20 to 40 miles of falling at terminal velocity. I just don't see there being a salvagable body after that. But the writers said there was. So space magic took place. Whatever.

I actually think it would have been better if the writrrs went with the ghola route or something similar. Before someone mentions it still wouldn't work because of the 2 year time frame, Okeer had full grown krogan in 7 days with no adverse effects on their lifespan. Not saying this route wouldn't still leave questions, but it's still more plausible.
