I'm going to agree with David on this one. Liara doesn't face any impossible to survive situations, at least not any more than every other character (unless it happens in the comin books?).

Oddly enough, only one character in the Mass Effect universe is featured under the "Plot Armor" section of TVTropes: Miranda.

That's because David probably went and edited it out.

But yes, in ME2, Miranda does indeed have plot armor. Until the final mission anyway.

Still, not nearly as bad as Miss can't-be-killed-unless-you-want-to-damn-the-galaxy.

Same with James.

Because plot armor isn't selective to the situation.

The citadel coup in the leaked script was much better than the one we got. There was Emily Wong, Terra Firma, Thane's role was at least acceptable, Udina's motivations made sense and that idiotic fixation on Earth was thematized. But I'm glad the Thessia bit was cut. It already looks bad on paper.

And Liara does not have noteworthy plot armor. While she can't die in ME1 and ME2 (she isn't even a squadmember in that game)...that alone means little to nothing when she is not put in situations where you'd expect her to die.

Tell me, Massively, does intellectual honesty make you feel powerful?

Yada yada, "everything was better in the old script."

Yes, OP, it's all been said before. And really, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

Liara kind of reminds me of Sophia from The Walking Dead comics; every other long-running character has died or been mutilated in some way, but she gets to stay completely unharmed the whole way through. And even if it may not technically be plot armour, it still seems a little odd.

But yet, that's the girl that dies in the first season of the TV series, right?

Miranda does have plot armor in ME2. And even gets a nice bonus level along with Jacob. Too bad they don't capitalize on it much in the third game. She's just as abandoned as any other ME2 character. I think the writers lose interest easily on what they want to emphasize in the series.

Hell if I know, I don't watch the show.

Ah. That's all I've seen. There was a big plotline with a girl named Sophia who goes missing though.

It was leaked. So that the sales didn't lowered, they released a completly different game

no, they didn't. The game is hardly different, if not practically the same.

Also, I can see why Javik isn't the Catalyst anymore, since buying a DLC would never give you a super advantage in a war.

He was never the Catalyst. Not in the old script. Not ever.

Thank you.

I still don't understand why people say this. He's referred to as the Catalyst, but in reality he takes a similar role to Vendetta (suggesting that he may have not been a squadmate, mearly on the ship) and the Catalyst is still there in the leaked script.

Probably the biggest difference is the Cerberus coup mission and Thessia (which has like 5 different versions in the leaked script alone), the rest have very minimal changes or are almost exactly the same.

Or they just don't know what to do with potentially dead characters.

Basically it sounds like they had no clue as to how to end this thing.

It looks as if they knew how they wanted it to end. After all, the Destroy/Control/SomethingElse scenario is in the oldest version of the script. However, I guess they didn't know how to bring out what they wanted, since there was no fitting rationale for the cycle until later, and the third option kept changing.

Then they should go sit in a corner and figure it out for awhile. Wearing a dunce hat. :pinched:

I think they didn't know what to do w/ any characters, dead or alive.

Same reason some are still touting "LOLDARKENERGY" as a better plot.

Greener grass.

Considering those two have been in both the previous games, those are somewhat special circumstances.

Their interchangeable places in the narrative aren't without a bit of clumsiness either, though.

They substituted placeholder characters with less dialogue in case the originals were dead. Worked rather well, and it would've worked just as well had Miranda's story centered around the things in her story that were screaming for attention rather than - again - her sister.

What do you feel would have worked better?

That's not a challenge, I'm genuinely curious.
